Hearing and reading a lot of encouraging things thus far.

Kid line picking up where they left off last year would be a huge boon. Big steps forward from Kakko and Laf and Kravtsov contributing positively is already an upgrade from last year's postseason group.

Trochek is a huge upgrade on Strome. This can't be stated enough.

We haven't even seen Miller's final form yet. This is very exciting if the team can have him or Fox on the ice for 45 minutes a game.

If all this happens and you lock up these guys long term, and add a Sebastian Aho or Auston Matthews in two years, this can be a dynasty.

1) Agreed and if we have three balanced lines, hopefully we can really cut down on 4th line deployment and use.

2) In a lot of areas, sure. But we will see how he clicks with Panarin and Kravvy first in games where physicality is a part of it.

3. Miller's upside is almost limitless. If he starts playing rover out there with the speed that he has you could be looking at 30+ even strength points without taking too many risks.

4. I don't think we'll be adding any more outside pieces until we are in the 'second window' with guys like Kreider, Trouba, Panarin ultimately off the roster.

Salary cap says hello.

It's strange.

Maybe but we haven't really been in a position to draft a star forward (top 10 picks typically) until more recently.

The only NYR forward draft picks between 2004 and 2017 who had real star potential were Cherepanov and Kreider. Miller was projected to top out as a middle 6 forward when he was drafted, I don't think anyone expected him to turn into a star player like he has.

yeah, that interview was the most exciting part of training camp. I'm not really sure what he feels about the last year and its clear that there's still quite a bit going on under the hood with this situation. That said, his nervousness, not only with the language but having to answer these questions was fascinating and more real than most hockey player interviews. Enigmatic kid. I hope he finds a comfort level over here. It's clear that hasn't been the case yet 4-5 years in. Rangers clearly need to keep figuring out how to best support these European kids. Without rehashing all of it, it sure seems like a lot of these kids feel really lonely over here.

He looks genuinely happy to be back here.
I too would be happy about being 4500 miles away from Russia at this moment.

In all seriousness, a lot of encouraging stuff coming out from the camp early on. I like the statements by Kravtsov and Panarin, Kravtsov owning up to his past and Panarin also owning up to his poor performance (relative to his standards) last season. Really like the fact that the Kid line seems to be as awesome as they were in the playoffs.

...but then you have Hajek and Schneider as a pair...

The chosen one can't finish.

On a serious note, I'm glad that line is at least sustaining significant zone time. We'll see how they do in real game situations but 2 strong possession lines are definitely better than 1 (I'm already assuming that Kreider-Mika is going to get caved and we're going to have to live with it.)

If they can get 50 rush goals I don't care how much they get hemmed in.
