This kid definitely passes the eye test. He holds himself like a star.
Man, i was watching Jones during Saturday nights game last weekend, and i thought he looked rough too. Hopefully its rust and not regression.I saw a bit of that from Jones last weekend in Allentown too, hopefully just a case of getting settled in and making better reads
It'll end up being:The kid line will naturally get more minutes if they start to join the special teams play more consistently. Kaako should be a prime PKer and final minute guy. Throw him up with Kreider and Zibanejad for the final few minutes in close games. Chytil should also be learning to PK.
All three of them should be on PP2 with Kravtsov and Trouba.
That and just don’t sit them in close games and their minutes will be hovering around 14-15 minutes each I would think. That’s not a bad range to be in for them. Avoid the long stretches of sitting idle…

Matthews to Anaheim. Aho to Toronto. Heard it here firstHearing and reading a lot of encouraging things thus far.
Kid line picking up where they left off last year would be a huge boon. Big steps forward from Kakko and Laf and Kravtsov contributing positively is already an upgrade from last year's postseason group.
Trochek is a huge upgrade on Strome. This can't be stated enough.
We haven't even seen Miller's final form yet. This is very exciting if the team can have him or Fox on the ice for 45 minutes a game.
If all this happens and you lock up these guys long term, and add a Sebastian Aho or Auston Matthews in two years, this can be a dynasty.
There s video of his wrister this year in camp on at least one of the threads on this board. Petty lethal. Your prayers have been answered!i saw the video of the clapper but i couldnt care less about it as slap shots are becoming irrelevant in todays game with stick whip. his wrister and snap shot were complete muffins that routinely hit goalies in the chest. that is what i want to see improve, not a clapper that is only relevant for all star weekend...
I was listening to Vince's podcast. He hinted Gallant would prefer Robertson over Jones if Robertson shows he can contribute in pre-season. Bigger. Better defensively. The Rangers are high on Robertson. However, Robertson has no NHL experience while Jones has NHL experience. Vince believes the Rangers are downplaying Roberson's chances on making the team. Robertson is safer than Jones. Schneider over Lundkvist. Robertson over Jones.
Bigger. Stronger. More reliable defensively.
When does Jones ask for a trade?
The Rangers will probably go with Jones and send Robertson to the AHL to start the season.
Vince said Drury wanted a young center who could contribute this season or next season for Lundkvist. Drury placed a first round pick value on Lundkvist.
Dallas has Johnson and Bourque. The Rangers accepted a first round pick. Drury and Lilley can select a center with that pick.
If you look at the Rangers cap situation, Drury could be adding more future picks because the Rangers can't keep everyone. That is a discussion for after this season.
There is only one The Duke.Hajek's best friend is Hank Mardukis.
I think I’d rather hear about the royal funeral than the royal road.Much more cised for the royal road give and go executed by 24 and 13 that Colin just posted.
Very well said.In regards to Hajek/Jones, I have no problem with Gallant showing Hajek the opportunity to start camp. He's the "veteran" of the two. Say what you want about Hajek but he was in limbo with the team all last season and then some. He's likely worked his tail off this summer like every other player wanting to improve. He's paid his dues to at least get a good look.
The thing about all of this is us fans are sitting here looking at lineups and we make our assumptions on players based on the games we watch on TV and whatever other media we are fed. We aren't sitting in meetings, coaching and basically living with all of these guys like family for 8-9 months of the year.
Hajek has been at almost every practice, road trip and team function over the past 3 years. When hes up in the press box not playing, he is out of sight and mind for the fanbase. But he is an individual, a real person who you have to look in the eye and try to develop just like everyone else.
Its just as much about respect, even if he may not win the job. Jones will have to take that spot from him, and it's very possible he can, and will. But you extend the look to the guy with seniority in this regard and for all intensive purposes is at the same level with the other 2 or 3 guys fighting for the 6th-7th spot
100%. Love it. Thank you for posting. We all need to appreciate that the young guys are still developing. It’s an uphill climb.Very impressed by this. It's ballsy as hell to sit in front of English speaking reporters like that. He's trying his best, and I appreciate the effort. I also like the content of his answers. I see some clear maturity from him. Very exciting.
I think that’s generally true - players eventually will get to where they’re capable of getting. But the organizarion can slow them down.Player development is always on the player.
But obviously there is no way to know if those things are true.I think that’s generally true - players eventually will get to where they’re capable of getting. But the organizarion can slow them down.
Of course it’s all 20/20 hindsight but I think Kakko would have benefited from an extra year back home. On the other hand, I think Nils had to go through last season in NA.
