I had a very nice conversation with Sam Rosen on Monday in regards to how frustrating it is to listen to people to say a player is a bust at 21/22. I think we are going to see big things from Kakko and laf this year. He also had some interesting things to say about kravtsov as well
Like what?

I’m gonna put myself on a limb here and throw some major support in Hajek’s direction.

Like I said he’s paid his dues and I’m rooting for him to make the club out of camp and have a good season. I’m not gonna be one of those fans who instantly writes off a player, just because.

I also don’t think he’s as bad as he is made out to be. He’s another young Ranger we should all hope takes the next step. I think he can be a good player and fit for this team if he can get into a good stretch of games

I’m a Jones fan too - really loved his camp last year - but I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion he’s the 6th man. We’ll see how it shakes out but whether I eat crow or not I’d like to see Hajek succeed

It's important to note that Jones is only 21 years old. He played 2 years in college and has played (1) year of pro hockey. Adam Fox played 3 years of college hockey and then stepped in to the NHL but most players, especially later picks, play 3 years in college, then a year pro, then push for the NHL. Jones is ahead of schedule in terms of his readiness but it shouldn't be looked at as a disappointment if he doesn't make the NHL to start this season.

Yes, I would strongly prefer Laf to be our 1st line winger. But there is something to be said for, if you have two strong offensive players on that line, having a physical winger who will play the boards. So, I'm not ready to condemn the idea of Blais there. It's an interesting idea and I'm more than willing to see how it plays out. I think Laf will end up there anyway, as he should. But, it's kind of a classic line: strong offensive center, strong offensive winger, physical winger. We'll see.
And this is not just a theoretical construct - the whole line and Blais individually looked really good in that spot, where he was right until the season ending injury.

Really think it happens because of the extra ice time. You're in the game more. Engaged in battles and making plays. When you don't get PP or PK time as a forward, you will be limited to somewhere between 10-12 minutes per game. Also, if a coach trusts you on the PK, he also trusts you at the end of games. All of that builds confidence.

I'd argue that I want Lafreniere and Kakko to both be part of the PK. Imagine Lafreniere or Kakko with Trocheck killing penalties. On top of the fact they can make the plays in their own zone, they're liable to go the other way and create chances. Carpenter can fill in if needed, but rolling something like:

Zibanejad-Kreider, Trocheck-Kakko, Goodrow-Lafreniere, you're talking about a dangerous unit. Then you could roll something like Panarin-Chytil-Kravtsov, which could be a great line to go out there and take on a team's 3rd/4th line forwards after a PK.
I think it will be Blais or Carpenter, not Lafreniere on PK. But the first line after PK will be Panarin - Chytil - Lafreniere.

He just turned around and this was behind his own net lol, you're acting like Kravtsov was responsible for this goal against

That line's chemistry seems to be great

I mean its a forgone conclusion that Vinny and anyone with skill on the RW would be best for panarin. Instead of that scrub strome and a 4th liner in hunt

You know what's crazy? I think PP2 could end up being really good if given some time. If Tro is on unit 1. Unit 2 is Laffy, Kakko, Kravtsov, Chytil and Trouba/Miller/Jones. I mean -- that's a lot of fire power. If Kavy and Chytil are used to retrieve pucks you then have three guys up front who can shoot it really well with KK, VK and Laffy. too bad they'll only get 17 seconds of pp a night.

If these kids show that they can generate chances while keeping the puck control Gallant will be more comfortable giving them time instead of NEEDING to force the extra seconds to PP1 even when it’s not working for them. Can’t blame Gallant when its 40 seconds left on PP and the second unit starts by losing FO and has to leave the offensive zone and then spends the remaining time in futile attempts to enter zone and keep possession.

It is best for Halek to for fill his potential as 4-6 dmen for a trade opportunity in the first 30 games..jones and Robert should play another 20 AHL games and then get the call up..or trade jones if he builds up his value..
