What do you consider 'a lot'? I can't imagine more than one or two (if any) having that specific thought, seems made up.

It would seem questioning something equates to being upset by it to some posters.

First time in a long time no excitement for the start of season or season itself. all bout what they do in the playoffs IF they make it.

If you are a fan of the sport, you will watch regardless. Might as well watch the buds and enjoy them when they shine in the reg season. Just stay level headed and know what awaits.

The guy is not a top 6 winger. If he’s healthy and it’s a big if he will add nice depth in the bottom 6 and thats great. He has 55 games since mid jan 2019. When he did play he produced little.
You're really missing the point, eh?

Does anyone know anything about any team events or practices, anything like that, that are open to the public?

Kase is a top six winger but he does have a serious history of concussions. It's always interesting to take a peak at guy's storylines before they become Leafs:

Boston Bruins: Where does Ondrej Kase go from here?

Kase's the biggest wildcard of this season.

If he's healthy, like reports suggest, he'll be a massive boost to a 3rd line that's provided little to no secondary scoring. The likely fit is on a shutdown line with Kerfoot/Kampf, which would be the best 3rd line we've had in a while, bumping down Engvall/Mikheyev to 4th line roles where they're better suited. Even gives you a backup plan for 2RW with Nylander switching to LW.

But you have to expect him to be injured at some point and plan as if he's not going to play. Worthwhile gamble since he's an RFA at season's end and can be flipped for futures if it fails.

If he’s healthy and fit he will be nice secondary scoring hopefully on the third line.

If Robertson won't be, and Kase can't be, if Mikheyev can get the puck on his stick he could be a LW solution.
I've never seen a player with such horrible puck luck ever...and he could've been a last second hero too.

As new season begins, it's still all or nothing for Maple Leafs | Toronto Sun

Opinion | Marner and Matthews understand the urgency to win. They’re not old but they’re not part of the kiddie core anymore

Marner absorbed the lion’s share of the criticism after running his personal streak in the playoffs to 18 games without a goal. The harshest takes came from social media and a fan base looking for someone to blame. He grew up a Leafs fan, understands Leafs fans, and released a hype video on social media last week that ended with the song refrain “I love you, I love you, I love you” while panning across the Toronto skyline.
“I (knew from) growing up what exactly I was getting myself into and I wouldn’t choose it any other way,” Marner said.
And so these two generational Leafs find themselves trying to get through a CN Tower-sized obstacle. It’s already clear that Matthews and Marner will completely rewrite the Leafs record book if they stick around long enough, and they’ll almost certainly accumulate enough personal hardware to fill a trophy case or two as well.
Neither of those outcomes will come to define their time together, though.
“I won the Rocket last year, but obviously nobody really cares about that because of how everything ended, right?” Matthews said. “To me, rightfully so. I want to win. That’s what I’m here to do and that’s what we want to do and that’s what we believe we’re going to do.
“All of that stuff is obviously fine but in the end it’s all about winning.”

That, and one more layer of urgency for a core that has absorbed more playoff disappointment than it ever imagined it would experience.
“You look at other guys … Stevie Yzerman didn’t win until he was whatever, 30-something, (Alex Ovechkin), they could never get over the hump,” Matthews said. “I think it’s just because of where we play it gets a little overdramatized a bit and that’s fine.
“But I think you’re going to have to put stuff into perspective sometimes, too, and realize we’re not in our late 30s, mid-30s, but obviously it’s not like we have all the time in the world.”
Time stops for no one, not even the young stars who once made the city stand still.

I read somewhere that the Red Wings website will have a link to the stream of the rookie tournament games. Looking forward to watching a few sneaky good undrafted kids. Some never had a chance over the last few years to really showcase where they are at.

Yup - the Red Wings are streaming all of the Traverse City games. I believe the Leafs first game is Thursday at 3:00pm.

You don't remember Grabner with the leafs ? He missed like 5 breakaways in that season

Jason Blake was another guy. Created a lot of chances from his skating but couldn't bury it with the leafs

Prospect tourney televised?

edit: just saw Detroit is streaming them? Hmm seems like my work overlaps with at least some of every game…

Mik can create his own chances with his blazing speed.....just needs his hands to catch up to his legs. Not sure he's a good add to our top guys but thats a damn valuable skill to compliment his defensive abilities on 3rd line.
