So players still here:

Kane-McDavid-Yamamoto
Holloway-Draisaitl-Hyman
Nuge-McLeod-Puljujarvi
Foegele-Ryan-Shore
Hamblin, Benson (injured?)

Nurse-Ceci
Kulak-Bouchard
Murray-Barrie
Broberg

Campbell
Skinner

That is a 23/23 player roster but 1.64M over the cap. Even if Benson went on LTIR its still 894K over the cap.

There has to be something else coming. There isn't room for Shore or Hamblin on the roster.

When do the Oilers need to be cap compliant? lol

Us not waiving Shore has me a little confused. There’s no way we can get under the cap without waiving him, Ryan, or Foegele

Hmmm that is odd. Think Holland is still hunting for a Foegele trade? What's the cut off date for being able to waive players?

Do we see a Janmark trade or something now that the next team could freely bring him up and down?

That would clear enough space for Shore.

If anything your proved my point a bit more, Weegars contract is miles better than Nurse ;)

Nurse has already had the best season he will ever had and it’s an overpay based on that so I mean…unless Nurse is an undisputed top 5 defender in the league, it’s a terrible contract.
That’s why they play the games. Contracts are awarded for what they perceive to be the expected performance.

This. There was a lot of talk about Weegar being this amazing player in Florida, but they sure weren't afraid to let him go, were they? I know they got a high value player, but I think they realized that they were trading both pieces in that deal at their absolute highest value. I expect both to regress on Calgary. Huberdeau will still be good, but I'm interested to see how Weegar fits on Calgary's blueline where the only real consistent pieces are Tanev and Hanafin.
it's also curious as to why Bill Zito, an analytics guru himself, was willing to part with an analytics darling like Weegar
Weegar had an awful playoffs.

Has Hamblin made the team over Holloway?

So did nurse

Nurse played through an injury that most people here wouldn’t be able to go to work with, let alone play hockey at the absolute highest level.

Weegar’s excuse? Not caring, I guess. He’s going to Be a perfect fit on their perpetually vaunted blue line for the next while (doubt he stays the full 8 years, likely bought out before that or pay to get rid of).
