Nurse played through an injury that most people here wouldn’t be able to go to work with, let alone play hockey at the absolute highest level.

Weegar’s excuse? Not caring, I guess. He’s going to Be a perfect fit on their perpetually vaunted blue line for the next while (doubt he stays the full 8 years, likely bought out before that or pay to get rid of).
Lol so what was nurses excuse during the regular season? Not caring?

You seem a little defensive for what was an absolutely reasonable response.

Nurse did not have a 100% healthy season. [MOD] better for him to not care in the regular season then give up in the playoffs like Weegar.

Nurse did not have a 100% healthy season. And even if your snarky response is the real reason, better for him to not care in the regular season then give up in the playoffs like Weegar.
Saying someone wasnt good in the playoffs because he didn't care is a reasonable response?

The point is Nurse had a good excuse to be poor in the playoffs. Most fans would agree that he probably shouldn’t have been playing considering the injury. Weegar didn’t have such an excuse.

Maybe its just me, but I find it comical that NHL fans around the league think Calgary has evolved into this beast with the new personnel.

One of the few that believe they actually regressed. We'll see I guess

I think Vancouver will finish ahead of Calgary
Maybe not this year, but going forward, they got worse. Gaudreau and Tkachuk will be impact players longer than Kadri (32) and Huberdeau (29). This year they will probably comfortably make playoffs and get knocked out in round 1 or 2.

Theres a lot of talk about what our roster will be to get cap compliant. But has any media indicated what our actual team looks like after Day 1?

First day and you already need a name change.
Post of the year I say

From what I've read after they figure out all the cap shenanigans it should be:

Kane McDavid Yamamoto
Holloway Drai Hyman
McLeod RNH Puljujärvi
Foegele Shore Ryan

Nurse Ceci
Kulak Bouchard
Murray Barrie
Niemalainen

Campbell
Skinner

Basically swap Malone with Shore and Broberg with Niems.

If Shore is claimed they sign Demers to the same AAV as Malone.

So Janmark isn’t playing?

Nope, they had to choose between Ryan, Foegele and Janmark to send down for basically the year without a trade. Here's the snippet from Daniel Nugent-Bowman's article.

They have good goaltending, good defense, decent coach and pretty good set of forwards... Why shouldn't the flames fanbase be excited?

It's good that Flames are rated high...beating them would be that much sweeter .

I expect them to finish ahead of us in regular season standings again

I think there’s a reasonable chance that sometime during the season, one of Foegele or Ryan are waived or injured and Janmark is called up. That would be enough cap? (I am legitimately not sure.)

Huberdeau and Kadri are going to crumble under the pressure of being primary offensive drivers for a whole season. They’ve never had less support in their careers.

Things are easier when you’re in the middle of December and can just look on your left on the bench to see Matthews and Barkov. Not so easy when you look to your left and see the other guy looking right back at you.

I bet the Flames are going to be like the NHL's version of Oklahoma in college football...off to a great start for a little bit, but right as they're getting hyped for big things, the wheels will fall off in spectacular fashion.

Worse. They will see Looch looking back confused at them.

Huberdeau and Lindholm should do some damage.

Oilers need to have a good season for my sports sanity. After the Jays and Elks this year…I can’t handle another massive disappointment.

I think we underestimate how dynamic Gaudreau was for them. Say what you will about him, the guy was insanely dynamic for a winger and generated so much easy offense through zone entries and passing alone. Not to mention the penalties drawn.

And yes he cherry picked but he was pretty damn good at anticipating them.

It’s startling how much Calgary relied on him for their offense.
