Explanation
They want to keep the core 4 together, this does this.
Saad fits into the top 6 LW spot we need to desparately fill.
Coleman, Goodrow and Perry all have killer instincts and have had post season success. Spezza wants to return.
I traded Rielly to shake up the core a bit, his extension is likely difficult to fit in and management historically has liked Schmidt, plus he has term.
Reimer and Smith represent reasonably priced depth.
Tried to bring in picks after our spending spree because the window only stays open with affordable talent.
Contracts
Saad 5M x3 years but could add a year if necessary.
Goodrow 2M x4 years
Coleman 3.25M x4 years
Jost would be 1.25M x 1-2 yrs
Spezza, Perry, Smith, Reimer are all 1 year deals.
If Coleman would cost more, find someone 150k cheaper than Paquette
Potential weaknesses:
Counting on Robertson in a top 6 forward role for his first full rookie season might be a big ask.
If Campbell doesn't come back as a #1, Reimer isn't a #1 goalie, could get ugly.

We'd need several league min players, but it's possible to be done with Spezza, Brooks, Anderson and Perry. Here's a sample roster:
