If mans gets a raise in free agency after the last two seasons he’s had, he better give his agent a raise.
Dubas is too nice for that, but he should delete Anderson's number now.Dubas should make it unequivocally clear that $5 million for a goaltender of Andersen's meager abilities and age is outrageous, that Andersen is not welcome back on the team, and that Andersen and his agent should be ashamed of themselves.
So I'm anticipating him getting 6+ from the leafs then.![]()
Good value
Difficult? It would be stupid
How they even entertained the idea of bringing him back if true, shows you how out of touch they are
I would have taken him at that. It is a little bit less than I thought but I didn't expect him to get over 1.5 mill. He's from Minnesota so he probably took less to stay home, especially since he's made good money in his career.
I am sure the Leafs will have a bunch of deals like that. Simmonds was just one, but it will likely be a huge competition.
Bjugstad gave his hometown team a decent discount.
So how close to that will the Leafs get Bozak for? 44pt pace playing under 15:00 TOI so solid production for close to #3c minutes and way better on FO than Bjugstad. To be fair Nick's pp60 is better and at 28 his chances of meeting or exceeding this season's results are better than with Boz. But he did not pk and was dead weight in limited pp time so on a one year deal I think I choose Tyler for the right money.
I just want to trade 3 million of Marners cap but keep Marner.![]()
It tells you that it likely is not true, or the Leafs were willing to engage, heard that number, and are likely done with Andersen if he does not drastically come down by a lot.
I highly doubt anyone is stupid enough to pay him anywhere close to that number.
I don't see why Andersen wouldn't ask for a number that's close to what Braden Holtby got. Similar age and save %. That might have to be the benchmark. Doesn't mean he'll get it, but $4.3mill is the number he will likely throw out.
Holtby is a Vezina and Cup winner. Andersen is not. He should not be anywhere close to Holtby's number.
The Leafs signed a Hart Trophy winner and Art Ross winner last off-season.
Holtby won the award in 2016. Since that point, his GAA & Save % dropped significantly.
15 years ago. Even if you want to say 4 years is a long time (it really is not), Holtby won the Cup in 2018 where he was a major part of their win.
Andersen has not done anything even remotely close to that level, and he is not exactly in is prime anymore. They are not in the same realm, and should not be remotely similar in terms of contracts.
Neither goalie is in their prime and you can't be paying for past success.
Here's a breakdown of the last 4 years for each goalie:
Holtby - 20-21 -- 21 gms, 3.67GAA, 0.889 SV%
19-20 -- 48 gms, 3.11 GAA, 0.897SV%
18-19 -- 59 gms, 2.82 GAA, 0.911SV%
17-18 -- 54 gms, 2.99 GAA, 0.907SV%
Andersen --- 20-21, 24gms, 2.96GAA, 0.895SV%
19-20, 52 gms, 2.85GAA, 0.909 SV%
18-19, 60 gms, 2.77GAA, 0.917SV%
17-18, 66 gms, 2.81GAA, 0.918SV%
Vancouver paid for past success. If what you say is true, it does not change the fact that Andersen should not be getting that contract.
Ultimately, I don't care if he gets it from someone else. It works out better for us that way.
