I was asking for your opinion.

We don't have many picks or expendable prospects, but maybe I'm missing somebody.

We don't have many picks, but are prospect pool is far deeper than it's often given credit for. It could take a hit from a decent sized trade and still be healthy

Who do the Leafs own that are both desirable for other teams and expendable for the Leafs? Rodion Amirov and Topi Niemala are the only two significant pieces I can think of.

2022 1st round pick, 2022 second round pick, Lilligren still has good value for someone looking for a young dman (22) on the cusp of being NHL ready, Hallander has been progressing nicely, Rodion Amirov, Robertson could probably be had if the right player came along, Niemala. Only prospect that the Leafs wont be trading is Sandin.

The Leafs have the pieces to acquire a good forward if they choose, it more becomes what forward are they looking at and the cap hit probably has to be in the 4-5m range

Niemela or Robertson + Kerfoot($1.7M actual salary) for the right return.

Liljegren should get a shot with Toronto. He is likely to be better than any return we get for him.

Hallander was like 75th in scoring in Sweden. He might be an add-in, but he sure isn't the main piece in a trade for a significant top-6 forward.

Robertson on an ELC is too valuable to trade.

They have some pieces, but they need most of the good ones right now. Robertson and Liljegren should be part of the roster, and we need their contracts.

Victor Arvidsson is 28 and hasn't been productive for two seasons in a row. He put up one more point than Nick Foligno on the season at over $4 million. He's not a steal for LA.

Agreed, this is where the Leafs need there ELC players to make the team and play in the NHL, that's one of the main problems with them so far is they haven't been able to fill in the roster with good young talent on ELCs to be able to fill out other area of needs with good players.

I said that 4 years ago. Good teams have a flow of ELC contracts coming in every year. Once those ELC are done, you decide whether that player is part of the core or not. Core guys get big contracts, other guys get moved to replenish the pool. Guys like Kapanen and Johnson should have been traded for picks and prospects instead of re-signed.

They did the right thing with Kapanen, who was their best prospect waiting on the wings for a couple of years and had a decent ELC. They were too generous with Andreas Johnsson though.

Yeah, I don't think it's a steal for LA, if anything it's a bit pricey. Arvidsson hasn't been the same since Bortuzzo mangled his back and just last off-season Toews only returned two 2nds, Schmidt one 3rd and Anderson one 3rd and Domi. If he returns to being a 30/30 guys it's a steal, but if he's only a 20/20 guy going forward LA paid MSRP.

How many wings are there in UFA that you'd bet on getting a better offensive player than "prime" (aka all but one year) Galchenyuk?

Exactly, a steady stream of reinforcements is what kept Chicago afloat for so long as they traded away non-core RFAs that they couldn't afford. Every year they graduated a Saad, Shaw, Kruger, Teravainen, Hartman, Schmaltz etc. and kept on rolling.

We were doing that well for a few seasons. Hyman and Brown graduated at the end of 2015-16 and became full-timers in 2016-17, then Kapanen, then Johnsson. But the well dried up and management has resorted to signing washed vets and taking flyers on Euro-leaguers.

He's not as good as his peak but it's a good risk for LAK.

Not a good risk for Toronto.
