multiple time playoff participant?
Got a few votes for awards?

So Ovi must be worth what 20-25million?

In all seriousness - everything I've seen has him signing for around ~9million

I wonder what we'd have to add to Soup. Foegele gets a shot a bigger role, Canes get a slightly cheaper depth forward

Skjei may be taken in expansion, at least that is the projection...

Slavin-Pesce
Bean-X
Gardiner-X

Hamilton may go back to them but maybe Soup and Dermott for Foegele and a small plus like a late pick?

Frederick Gaudreau would be a name to target in UFA

Pretty damn good possession metrics despite hard D zone starts.

Backstrom just signed a new deal at 9.2.
So at least that.

Winner Winner KD Dinner! He fits the Leafs budget plus can relieve the desperate need to have Mitch on the pk.

He isnt as skilled as Gally. He is more of a grinder and if he does make it in the top 6 it will be in a Hyman type role but I dont think he can be effective enough to bring what Hyman does. Bunting was on a nice goal scoring run but its a small sample and it was mostly front of the net grinder goals. His hands, passing, IQ and shot are all lower than Galch.

Like Connor Brown?

Trade Marner + Dermott for Konecny , Myers 1st round pick
Trade 1st round pick + prospect for Garland

Garland Matthews Nylander

Goodrow Foligno Mikheyev
Robertson Spezza Anderson
Simmonds

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Myers
Sandin Holl

I don't know about PK but I think he can be a real nice bottom 6 addition :)

Oops fixed it. Marner has absolutely no business being on the pk. They can be the 24th best pk in the league without putting their $10.9M boy in that spot. Never mind load management, would you want him blocking shots? Just really dumb usage by the coach, and since fire his ass seems to be off the table how about making some changes that are so obvious even rando message board posters can figure them out? However I am okay with no Goat 2.0 as they have strong FO guys and his lack of offense, speed or rage fills no needs in the Leaf's lineup. He is a 13th forward maybe.

Is it?

Soup-Kerfoot(likely expansion claimed or traded prior to expansion)-X
Engvall-Spezza-Simmonds
Brooks

I'd probably try to move on from Engvall, maybe grab a 3rd?

Engvall will come back to haunt you he won't score 20s but he'll get you 15 goals

Dude has played less than 100 games in NHL and handful of playoff games

He is exactly who you want on 3rd line. He's still learning the game and growing

Toronto could have a decent amount of cap room to make a splash in a trade or signing a player like Saad etc..

Toronto currently has 10.8m in cap room, I think Kerfoot is gone, and I think Toronto trades either one of Engvall or Soupman for a draft pick and get some cap, that leaves Toronto with 15.6m if they trade Engvall or 15.95m if they trade Soupman, going into free agency to sign 4F (could be 3 if Robertson is slotted into the top 9) 1 D / 1 backup goalie..

XXX - Matthews - Marner
XXX - JT - Nylander
Robertson - XXX (could be engvall here if they dont trade him) - XXX (Soup could be here if they trade Engvall)
Spezza - Brooks - Simmonds

Brodie - Riley
Muzzin - Holl
XXX - Sandin/Lilly

Campbell
XXX

15.6m to fill out the roster if they trade Engvall
15.95m to fill out roster if they trade Soup
14.35m to fill out the roster if they dont trade anyone and Kerfoot gets taken in expansion.

Worst case scenario is they have 14.35m to having to fill, 1st line winger / 2nd line winger / 3rd line C / 6th dman and a 1b goalie.

If Chicago is moving Keith I wonder if would consider moving Kane.

$10.5M for two more seasons vs $6.9M in actual salary each season ($4M signing bonus).

Coould be an option for both Chicago and a team like Ottawa to retain 50%.

Chicago retains $5.25M cap hit, $3.45M salary
Ottawa retains $2.625M cap hit $1.725M salary.

Cost would be huge but he's still a fantastic player and coming in at $2.625M would help offset the Marner deal.
