Haha sure you are. In a trade thread, in the context of a trade with the Kracken, and about faith in next years roster...

The more I analyze the team the more I see a mass of tangled Christmas lights...

People need to drop the WSH comparisons

Backstrom and Ovechkin were signed super long term so the window was wide open for quite some time. Leafs have a clock ticking on Matthews, 88 etc

Caps added Wilson, Kuznetsov via the draft and traded for Oshie. They let guys like Semin and Green move on.

The Leafs haven't made any major additions in the top of the line up because they're capped out, Dubas hasn't hit a home run on the draft (Sandin and Robertson are just potential) like Kuznetsov or Wilson.

The clock is only ticking on Tavares due to his age, Leaf's will use his money to resign 34 and 88 and 16. As of right now, they can still afford to add a 5m dollar forward like Wilson or Oshie in the top 6, It just makes it a lot harder to have a good bottom six on 1 million dollar contracts and ELCS.

I am not comparing our team to Washington exactly, I am only pointing out that I think our management sees our team like Washington, in the sense they need break through that hurdle, in Washington case it was the second round.. ours is the first round. To me, it doesn't matter if you lose in the first round all the time or lose in the 3rd round all the time. The goal is to win the Stanley cup if you lose in the first or third round constantly there's no difference, you failed regardless.

Love the player but is there a case for going 7-3-1 and hoping Seattle takes Muzzin? 2 playoffs in a row he's been injured in the 1st round...moving further from his prime.

Muzzin has a NTC. He is not going anywhere until July 1, 2023 (earliest).

The Leafs had the 5th tallest and 3rd heaviest roster to play the 2020-2021 season, based on average of all players to dress.

On paper yes, but watching the team, forward wise they don't play like it. Engvall is soft as hell considering his size, Jumbo Joe was useless and soft for his size, Simmonds played hard but wasn't very good. Foligno plays hard but playing hurt severely made him pretty useless out there. Our D was fine this season for once, Muzzin and Bogo brought the toughness element and Holl somewhat did as well. Brodie played very well

I am nostalgic to the team that choked the 4-1 loss to Boston because they were at least a more fun disappointing team

Dreger updates where Leafs stand with Hyman and if they’re in Eichel sweepstakes - TSN.ca

Andi Petrillo and former NHL’er Peter Holland are joined by TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger to get the latest on what he’s hearing out of the Maple Leafs camp in terms of talks with Zach Hyman, plans for the off-season and Toronto’s potential involvement in the Jack Eichel sweepstakes.

When Dreger said "there has to be" talks with Hyman, that tells me he doesn't know anything.

Tampa is proving that it actually does work, you just actually need those players to perform come playoff time. Tampa has $36M in Kucherov/Stamkos/Hedman/Vasi. They're over $40M on 5 guys if you include Point.

If we got Kucherov/Stamkos production out of Matthews and Marner we're laughing to the 3rd round even without JT.

You can't really compare what Tampa is doing to what we are. Look at the size of Tampas defence though compared to ours. Only 1 of them is under 215 pounds and it's Rutta who is 6'2 204 They are all also 6'2 or taller. Our defence isn't that short but they mostly weigh around 180-190 pounds. Their top 3 forwards also get to be surrounded by guys making 4-5 mil while ours have to play with guys making like 1-2 mil or less. Their starting goalie makes more than both of our goalies combined too.

TB has its cup, their money yet they are still balls to the wall trying to win another cup. As hard as the Isles have taken it to them, they have not broken their will to win.

Agreed you can't really compare what Tampa is doing to what we are.

so I saw that apparently instead of trying to replace Hyman with 1 individual player, they plan on replacing his contributions through committee with cheaper, more under the radar players around 25 or 26 years old.

I've seen Michael Bunting's name thrown around. Who would be some other players that fit the description?

I'd like to see Andrew Mangiapane in a Leafs sweater, but not sure the Flames will be very motivated to move him

Would also be interested in one of the Blues' mid 20s bottom 6ers, maybe Zach Sanford (RFA this summer), 6'4 and knows it, can produce a little offense

Matthew Tkachuk playoff production: 5 points in 15 games.
Would be nice to have someone with his size and tenacity. Although It definitely needs to be reined in (like Kadri). His craziness was becoming a distraction for Calgary.

Wouldn't it be weird to watch a guy as emotionally invested as Tkatchuk after years of watching our team skate away from their best players getting mauled on creases and behind nets.

In regards to the Toughness issue.....I honestly don't even think it's a Personnel issue anymore. I deadass believe we had the roster to be physical this year...but we played soft as butter.

This is a Management/Coaching issue. They're neutering our players. I'm 100% Dubas and Keefe kept telling our players to "Stay out of scrums", "don't take penalties", "We'll make them pay on the powerplay", "Dont get too emotional".

Thats a p***y way to play in the playoffs. Plain and simple. Who cares if they end up taking a penalty here and there? Isnt that what the Penalty Kill Units are for? Let the boys play with some damn emotion and get dirty. It's the damn playoffs.

Like I said before, this franchise needs a system overhaul. I'm convinced we can acquire Tom Wilson and he would be neutered roo

This team needs a Gary Roberts in the worst way. Only way to get players to compete harder, is for them to get emotional, get dirty, get involved.

Leafs are the Softest sacks of shit I've ever seen

The fact that Adama Brooks was the only one willing to mix it up in the Montreal Series speaks volumes to me.

He got a stare down from the Coaches and Players afterwards like...."don't ever do that again"

The whole "our powerplay is our enforcer" schtick only works if your powerplay actually makes them pay. Our 50 million dollar powerplay can't even score, so teams can walk all over us while we don't retaliate on the ice or the scoresheet. It's embarassing.
