If Ghost who people talked as a border line capdump got a 2nd and a 7th

Can Holl get Garland straight?

Edit: nvm freedman reported wrong

Yotes got ghost, 2nd and a 7th and gave up nothing really

Bit of a surprising trade there with Detroit and Carolina (especially for the latter). Suppose Detroit could be a team that is better suited to take a risk on running with a rather inexperienced starter though. A couple of new contracts signed would obviously be required, but Carolina could potentially go forward with a goaltending tandem of... :sarcasm:

We'd need to give up Andersen + our 2nd this year, and then pay Ned a 3 mill contract.

I can see the intrigue, but I don't blame the Leafs for passing on that. Especially with Campbell as a high upside unproven goalie, plus guys like Ullmark and Mrazek on the UFA market for similar money and no assets needed to be sacrificed.

Everyone's freaking out about the Ned trade but like.. he's a guy with 30 good/great NHL games behind one of the best teams in the league.

But risk going bigger than a 3rd rounder when a guy is actually trying to get paid.

He just signed with Detroit for 3M for 2 years.

Embarrassing for Carolina

I know your dislike for management is strong lol.

Either Leafs really surprise many of us and break through this year... or you'll get your wish most likely and they're gone. If another 1st round exit happens there will be big changes I'm thinking. CJ said this.... so its do or die.

I don't see the "do or die" implication.

He was a pure cap dump and a bad one at that.

TBH, surprised that PHI did not have to give up more. ARI did Philly a solid, but they are doing a good job at accumulating assets at least.

If I am reading between the line Shanny has discussed a core shake up with this team, but Dubas is standing by his group indicating they don't need to and Shanny is giving him one last chance with it. The last comment seems to tell me that effectively his job is on the line this season.

Ned’s Agent.

Well 2 years isn't bad at all.

But I wonder if Carolina is going big game hunting (Gibson? Probably too expensive for them) rather than cycling through the Nedeljkovics, Mrazeks, Reimers, etc. They all looked solid behind a stingy team D, but didn't steal anything in the playoffs. Ned did allow some really soft goals against NSH and TB, although the Canes couldn't score in the latter series.

I think that could go without saying.

Interesting. I can sort of see the implication now.

But unless Shanny had no involvement in the contracts and signings thus far (which I find hard to believe), he should be on the way out too!

Would Jones be worth it?

How about Ullmark? I feel like him and Campbell would make a solid tandem.

Jones has been really bad the past 3 years, even accounting for SJ's struggles. He would be a good fit as a backup for a team who has a fairly solid starter, and he can chew up some games, but he is a reclamation project at this point.

Same tier as Andersen, except even Andersen has been better.

Let me preface this by saying, Dubas is by far my favorite GM the Leafs have employed in more than 2 decades. If his job isn't on the line this season, regardless of his loyalty to this core, then something is terribly wrong with this executive group.

Bet everything, the guy should say I will resign my position as Leafs GM if the same core does not get out of the 1st round next year. Have some balls Dubas you wishy washy Shanny puppet

I'm in the same boat as you.

IMO the core has had enough chances to prove itself .. A shakeup is needed. I can't even really care about the regular season knowing that they just fold in the playoffs.

Well yeah... he did say that in a round about way... you're right... but not many GMs if ever would actually come out and say they'll resign.

Edit: I'll add in here... I'm in the boat with the above posts too.

Dubas is putting his job on the line this season.

I would say Keefe gets the can tied around his neck when they fail next year and Dubas has to fire his friend, I can’t see them firing him, which is why he should resign if they fail again. None of this “if you read between the lines” implications
