Man I hope Dubas has something up his sleeve. That’s a sweet deal for Detroit.
I like Ned but the guy was also waived last year prior to going on his 20 game rip. If the Canes weren't sold on him for whatever reason, not wanting to pay him 3.5+ makes sense.

What the hell Waddell? A 25 year old goalie who has developed nicely over the last so many years and was a Calder finalist and you trade him for Bernier and a 3rd because of a 3.5M ask? 3.5M is not unreasonable for a guy that could get you 25-30 wins.

If nothing else Dubas has to make a decision on Rielly
Rielly should have played his last game as a leaf if he doesn't have an extension signed before training camp
Don't pull a Hyman/Andersen Dubas and go for a self-rental, especially not for this shitty team which lacks futures and needs to realize their draft picks
If rielly extends keep him and have him serve as the 1D since he's capable. If he isn't willing to extend than shop him hard and get the best offer available. Don't half ass and try and save your own career by sabotaging the leafs

Everyone's freaking out about the Ned trade but like.. he's a guy with 30 good/great NHL games behind one of the best teams in the league.
