When you are up against the cap, are thin on prospects, have 6 picks in the next two years, have many holes to fill what do you call taking on Kleftbom who can't play from what I heard?
Huh?

Taking on Klefbom was a fan suggestion. You're giving Dubas blame on something he hasn't done...When you are up against the cap, are thin on prospects, have 6 picks in the next two years, have many holes to fill what do you call taking on Kleftbom who can't play from what I heard?
I think I know how it works but you do you.Groundless peculation from someone with a piss poor understanding of how LTIR works.

Not blaming him. He is using every tool at his disposal. It just shows where we are at and the desperation he is in. Name the last NHL team to do a sign and trade and how many teams are willing to take on LTIR players? Cap is king and we don't have any. Money is the next best thing when you don't have picks and are thin on prospects.Taking on Klefbom was a fan suggestion. You're giving Dubas blame on something he hasn't done...

You can get a an asset to take on an LTIR player. When u print money u have that tool in your toolbox so use it but you only do when you are desperate. Not if you think the Leafs derive any cap benefit from taking on the contract.
But I was actually talking about the Edmonton based source of the original "rumour"
You'd rather him walk for nothing rather than walk for a pick? Not blaming him. He is using every tool at his disposal. It just shows where we are at and the desperation he is in. Ok, not only will Dubas never do this in a million years, but this buys absolutely nothing positive. This hurts the Leafs in every way possible. You get the cap hit, but not the player? Sign me up!Buying assets by taking on bad contracts. That is where we are. Dubas can't buy his way out of this mess but he is trying.
1. There's no reason to only use the "tools in your toolbox" when you're "desperate". That's illogical. You can get a an asset to take on an LTIR player. When u print money u have that tool in your toolbox so use it but you only do when you are desperate.
Something that there is literally zero reason to believe is happening shows where we are?

This isn't about Dubas - he'd never do this. This is about moron writers who should not be allowed to procreate if they are truly this stupid. Writers prove once again that they are stupid beyond stupid, have no knowledge of hockey or the business of running a team, and have no basic math skills.
Getting a pick is good. Taking kleftbom is also good but it shows me how desperate they are for any asset they can get. You'd rather him walk for nothing rather than walk for a pick?
Again, talking about LTIR like we're currently using it, giving blame to Dubas on something he hasn't done.
We made TWELVE picks last year. Dubas traded for picks last year and sold picks this year because last years draft was deep and this one is thin.
If they're good moves, according to you, why would they only be done in desperation? That's illogical.Getting a pick is good. Taking kleftbom is also good but it shows me how desperate they are for any asset they can get.
THEY were already in LTIR then because of the Horton contract. They needed to maximize their ACSL, so they took on Clarkson's to get as close a possible to the cap ceiling before placing the players onn LTIR.He never did
Never did it? What about Clarkdon from Vegas? And My math is just fine. Lol.

But no matter what, they were using LTIR.
I'll explain it again in easy terms for the unenlightened (not you, the writers).
The Leafs have $9.4 million in cap room. The Leafs acquire Klefbom, the available space goes down to $5.2 million. They get no player. They now have all the same holes to fill.
The end.
You can get a an asset to take on an LTIR player. When u print money u have that tool in your toolbox so use it but you only do when you are desperate.
What other teams use LTIR to acquire assets because they are capped out and have holes to fill? The Leafs taxing the Oilers to take on the LTIR is not what the original rumour was. I can't find the tweet but it was an ignorant blurb about the Leafs wanting to add Klefbom to make use of his LTIR space- which is nonsense. Taking on an asset for something that won't hurt us is something else entirely, and no it doesn't signal desperation.
What other teams use LTIR to acquire assets because they are capped out and have holes to fill?
The only reason we would acquire an LTIR is if the asset being attached is worth it. It would not help our cap situation, which is just fine. What other teams use LTIR to acquire assets because they are capped out and have holes to fill?
