He was on Leafs Lunch recently (within in the last month and post Leafs elimination) giving an interview with host Andi Petrillo about how he wants a larger role than 3rd pairing Dman like he was given in Toronto this year and wants to test the market to see what is out there.

With the Leafs protecting Holl that all but seals Bogosian fate baring a change of heart.
I cant find it, do you have a link or date?

I hope it happens.

I'm Team chaos.

The only really big contracts I think they should take are Price, and Tarasenko. Price for the marketability and I think for only 2 years, Tarasenko is worth the risk. Funny feeling they pick Subban as well since his ticket is only one year, his friendship with Price and that organization has made a conscious effort to hire lesser represented groups like minorities and women to work within the org.

What about the Flyers? Do you think they should take JVR ($7M for 2 more years) or Voracek ($8.25M for 3)? JVR wouldn't be too bad.

The latest news I have on that is July 14, 2021

Zach Bogosian News

As Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun tweeted today, there are indications that Zach Bogosian will likely enter the open market as a UFA. However, that isn’t written in stone because he’s had recent contract discussions with the Maple Leafs. Similar to the other team’s UFAs, Bogosian becomes eligible to sign with any team starting on July 28.

It seems as if Bogosian will be testing the free-agent market, but never say never with a return to the Maple Leafs.

#Leafs and Zach Bogosian have talked, but as of right now, indications are that he will go to the open market. Like all of these things, that could change.

Would've much rather kept Bogosian and traded Holl.

Bogosian doesnt want to be in Ontario because of how they have handled Covid to this point.

Both of those are also still a possibility considering the offseason still has a few months to go.

Does anyone know the rules for and expansion team? Here is the thought, what if Seattle took Price then retained 2mil on his salary and traded him for assets?

Pretty much where I stand. We'll see if Leafs learned. As long as the Simmonds signing is the only one like it, I'm fine with it. McCann if he isn't taken is a good start.

If they can work it cap wise why wouldn’t they, he’s still a killer goalie, might have to eat the last couple of years of his contract, but good way to start a franchise is with a future HOF goalie.

He's a very good PLAYOFF goalie but his regular season play has been horrific

**** Paying 10M a year for 6 good weeks Seattle probably won't be good enough to see for a few years anyway

Of the final 4 teams this year 3 of them were the highest paid in the game.

1. Carey Price - Montreal
2. Sergei Bobrovsky - Florida
3. Andrei Vasilevskiy - Tampa Bay
4. Marc-André Fleury - Vegas

5. Tuuka Rask - Boston

The Vegas Knights the other recent expansion team have one, and Vas just won the Conn Smythe.
Tampa has won 2 Cups in a row, albeit both were in shortened seasons. If Tampa has a solid backup who can give Vasilevskiy the rest he will need through a normal long, gruelling season, then no problem. But it seems the trend nowadays is to have a 1a and 1b goalie, therefore probably not as good an idea to spend that much on a goalie.
After saying that, if I had to choose between having half my cap tied up in 4 forwards, or on 2 or 3 forwards and a goalie and/or defenceman, I would definitely choose the latter.

He's been on some pretty bad teams too, I'd like to see him on a very good team

Las Vegas disproved that theory.

The Leafs need a true shut down 2nd pairing RD Defenseman like a

David Savard
Eric Cernak
Scott Mayfield
Brandon Carlo
Josh Manson
Mackenzie Weegar
Jeff Petry
Adam Larsson
Brett Pesce
Matt Dumba
Nic Jenson
ETC..

Holl is aint cutting it
You talk about wanting a 2ndpairing guy, and then mention a bunch of top pairing guys.

For the record we have a elite top pairing shut down D.

I don't think they have nearly the money for any of those guys, and most of them aren't going anywhere in any case. If its true the Leafs are in on Kuemper and at least one more non reclamation forward their coin is mostly spoken for. They have no draft picks left to buy salary retention so are in a pretty tough spot to make a top 4 upgrade happen, unless they actually move Mo which would change their options.

If Bogo leaves they will hopefully bring in someone with at least his amount of sandpaper so the D isn't creampuff soft but its going to be for bottom rung money again. They only have a few really good prospects and the ELCs are what will offset the overpaid top 4 forwards so I think whatever their solution is, its UFAs, again, unless Rielly goes for a younger and cheaper D so they gain room for a trade or maybe a Savard/Oleksiak/Suter/Hjarmarsson/Oleksiak UFA.

To me, the X draft, Rielly and the backup goalie are the next hurdles and then see how much budget is left from that for D.

I think Savard would mesh well with the gang. I know they like Holl but I think most people would feel better if he was on the 3rd pairing.

Rielly. Brodie
Muzzin. Savard
Dermott. Holl
