Wow, Boston gets the 25th and a 4th liner and has to eat a bad contract on top of that too. Worse return than Markstrom.

If Saros is traded he won't cost much. Though I think Canes are circling atm.

Yeah I don’t really see this as having done much for Boston tbh. They needed cap relief and this did not really help there

Truth is that despite the vezina, I don't think there's a ton of faith out there in Ullmark.

He put up a .915 and .917 on that garbage team. Does he get another Vezina? Probably not. But there's a reason Boston gave him the contract they did, he's a great f***ing goalie. In a world where there's maybe 15 legit starting goalies, he's damn sure one of them.

To get Ullmark for a 1st and Korpisalo is a huge win for Ottawa, because it should've cost at least that 1st just to dump Korpisalo for nothing

No chance Boston trades Ullmark to us for that price, but hopefully Tre can leverage it and give up similarly little if he's planning is to trade for a goalie (Saros?).
 
Ullmark is WAY better than anyone we bring in

If we get a backup like Brossoit our season is exactly the same as last year

Woll is our Murray. When they are on they are great but can’t stay healthy


That’s why I think we are trying to get a name goalie

I didn’t say he was a bad goalie, and agree that it’s a solid deal for Ottawa. I said he would be exposed. He doesn’t have that d in Boston any more. Good goalie, but this doesn’t get the sens into the playoffs imo. And I’m pretty sure Samsonov had similar save % for us last year, so him doing it a couple of times doesn’t matter.

But he wasn't exposed in Buffalo is my point. This Sens team is better than the Sabres when Ullmark was there.

I mean yea, look at this Leafs team vs 2020ish Sabres
 
Surprised Ullmark returned so little… maybe he was using that NTC to limit options (like Toronto).

Ottawa is an interesting place to be ok with going.

I’d speculate that after playing in a tough environment in Boston he preferred to find an easier market to play out his final year before selecting an ideal location in free agency.
