Long time Tigers fan here...Nice pickup by the Jays!..You are going to absolutely love David Price...He's a top 5 pitcher in all of baseball. Unfortunatly, the Tigers can't afford to give him a 200M contract this offseason so they had to unload him.

What's the story on the prospects the Jays gave up?..Is Daniel Norris any good? What's his upside,a #1 or #2 pitcher?

Norris should be a #2 at a minimum. Great arm, incredible curveball. Had some issues missing bats this year.

Boyd is a lower rotation lefty prospect but he'll play well in Detroit as an extreme flyball pitcher. Labourt probably profiles as a reliever.

Jose Bautista texted AA asking 'is it true?' When AA confirmed the Price deal Bautista replied 'yes, w/ about a million exclamation points'

Guess Bautista was just a tad excited about this acquisition.

In essence, the Jays have really experienced some stupid luck this year.

And I guess the best way to address that is two bullpen arms (Hawkins and Sanchez), get an ace and add a superstar hitter who is also pretty good at SS.

It's really baffling how the Yankees are 14 games over .500

I don't think anybody carries a #2 projection as their floor.

Norris has a chance to be pretty good. He made the team out of spring training and wasn't awful, but was sent back down to work on some stuff.

Based on some roster moves after the trade earlier in the week it looks like they were preparing to call him up to start Sunday. But then the Price deal happened.

Don't know much about the other two. Boyd pitched in the majors this year. One terrific start, one awful start.

Well any prospect carries a non-MLB player as their floor

I would be very surprised if Norris is anything less than a top (or near top) of the rotation starter.

Seems like if Jays make anymore acquisition, it would be a minor move. Most likely to get some depth for Triple A because the depth is Doubrant/Francis/Copeland if a starter goes down.

We said this Tuesday/Wednesday though

You never know with AA. Like I said at the last presser, he seems like he has nothing going on, but he could go up stairs after this and finalize another shocking trade.

Or like he said, he got the call at 11:00pm last night that the Tigers were willing to move Price, and we got him by like 2-3am, and they finalized it this morning.

You can't even try to guess what we will do in the next 24 hours, because AA could have several irons in the fire, and it just takes 1 call back.

I noticed Roy Halladay... & has anyone asked anything about his thoughts on extending price?

I think he does profile a lot better in the Central. Hope he does well for them as I was always a big fan.

AA should have replied to him with "yeah, it was a pure baseball move"

AA says that Price may start Monday.

Which would have no impact on the number of starts he gets overall but line him up against the Twins. Although we won't have a starter for Sunday then on regular rest so I'd think he has to go then.

Don't know what his body language was but I got an exert from his text and it was "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", probably upset and was yelling at AA about the deal. Pathetic, not a team first player at all :sarcasm:
