You guys are funny re the Yankees. The thing is they have a much better record than the Jays. The facts. Easier to play from their position. We have certainly increased our odds of a possible WC. 7 games is a lot to make up.

They have like 13 games against the Yankees left. It's only easier when they don't actually have head to head games left with the team that's chasing them. I think this is a bigger reason why the Jays and everyone else think there is a very good chance.

Hadn't thought of this.

What roster moves are now required?

They DFAed Doubront for Hawkins.

Reyes left and Tulo arrived.

Is Tepera going down for Price?

AA basically saying its a pure rental.

I don't believe anything AA says, if he's trying to resign him he'll keep it quiet like he does with everything. If anything gets leaked it'll be from Price's agent, it's always from the other party.

Kind of. He said that any team would want him long-term, the Jays included. That's different than saying he's purely a rental.

Also that they need to get in line if they want to retain his services while side stepping the idea of re-signing him.

If you're David Price, why wouldn't you want to stay here?

This is a Championship caliber team, we have the money to offer him, and he's dominant at the Rogers Center.

AA says that Price may start Monday.

Which would have no impact on the number of starts he gets overall but line him up against the Twins. Although we won't have a starter for Sunday then on regular rest so I'd think he has to go then.

if he starts Monday, he can face the yankees twice.

So you think the Jays can go something like 9-4 in those 13? Good luck with that.

Did the Jays retain Norris' hippie van?

Dickey stole the keys :sarcasm:

I had no idea AA was bilingual. I like him even more now

He's from Montreal (I know that doesn't mean he has to be bilingual, but it makes it a fair bit more likely).

and did Brady/Walker (again, I don't know who it is, I never watch or listen to their show), just seriously suggest the Jays could/should consider sending down Hendriks to make room for Price?

Neither of them deserve it, but Tepera or Schultz would be the most reasonable to go down. Though in a perfect world Loup would go down instead (IIRC he can) unless he can sort his **** out and deal with teh fact that his actual output has been piss poor compared to his peripherals.

Not gonna lie I don't really follow the Blue Jays that much ... only the Raptors and Leafs

However this city is dying for a winner and we deserve it, should I be getting excited? lol

Norris should be a #2 at a minimum. Great arm, incredible curveball. Had some issues missing bats this year.

Boyd is a lower rotation lefty prospect but he'll play well in Detroit as an extreme flyball pitcher. Labourt probably profiles as a reliever.

Number 2 at "minimum"?

Ya I dont agree with that.

So basically worst case scenario you're saying hes gonna be a impact starter?

"Get dombrowski on the phone"

"Dave, I want Price"

"I like Price"

"You don't even know who Price is!"

It was AA speak let's be honest. The option to extend is there.

Agreed. AA isn't going to come out and say "Our intention is to re-sign him" because it would set everyone up for disappointment. You have to believe that if we go on a run, attendance is way up, and Price likes it here, he'd have a decent chance at getting Rogers to open up the purse strings.

All depends on how we do. If we have the cash and we make some noise in the playoffs, we have as decent a shot as anyone. All of this "no one wants to come to Toronto" business is because we've been statistically the most inept (playoffs-wise) team in all of baseball. When we were a powerhouse in the late '80's and early '90's, we had no trouble attracting FA's.

Even if he walks, the trade is worth it. You HAVE to go for it when you have a lineup like this and you have the longest playoff drought in baseball. Otherwise, why are you even in the league?

I think the Jays have an excellent chance to sign Price this offseason...It's about time they started playing big boy baseball and pay the PRICE!...Price is probably tired of moving around and might get comfortable in his 2 month stay in Toronto.

The Jays can certainly afford to pay him 200M.
