The offence literally dies every time the puck touched his stick and now he’s making terrible mistakes in the defensive end. People need to let go of the player he USED to be defensively. Won’t happen but he’s the defenceman I would move. The mistakes piling up along with the VERY soft play, he can go.
We get attached to every tweener, prospect and pick. Yet we want a Top 6 forward or Top 2 dman with 75% retention for a 7th.

He was crap last year: link

He's having a bounce-back year, yes, but I don't think that is 'top pairing on a contender' play. He was crap in the games we played STL, and my cousins who are die-hard Blues fans living in STL tell me he is not the player he was (even this year). We all want the same thing, but I don't think Parayko is the answer.
I'm not going to put much faith into an article saying a player was demoted at some point... Most players get demoted at some point, it happens. Some of our stars have been benched at times this year.... is that because they were crap all year?

No, Parayko isn't the same puck rushing, offensive dynamic guy he used to be, but he is still very strong defensively. Meanwhile, plenty of fans on the St. Louis board, and press singing his praises this year.

He doesn't need to be top pairing on a contender on his own.. he needs to be the right partner for Rielly... Schenn wasn't a top pairing guy on a contender, but because they complimented each other, it made for a good pairing. Parayko is miles better than Schenn, and they could make a very good top pairing.

A good way to "scout" a player is just to visit their team's board here on HF. If you go to the St Louis board, you'll see that they don't want to trade him and see him as their best dman (not that the Blues are brimming with defensive talent, but still).

Parayko for Brodie + 1st + Niemela/B Prospect. I'm good with that.

“Starting to make terrible mistakes in the defensive end” I don’t know what you’ve been watching, but he’s been a black hole defensively since the pre season, he’s literally had like 2 maybe 3 good games this year…….

Lmao... Imagine if Lou were here.... I get it, the core 4's contracts would have been lower. But he would have overspent the savings on awful overrated depth and the team would have been in the same cap hell. Plus if you didn't like the way Dubas spent future assets, Lou is gonna trade futures for mediocrity until he croaks.

I get it if you would preferred Hunter or someone else, but Lou who made his career off the dead puck era.... Jeeze.

Well that’s one way of looking at it, the other is that Columbus is a gong show and haven’t utilized him properly, the good news is he’s well rested for a deep playoff run…….
I’m with you.

If Peeke can be had now at a lower cost, I’d want him now, while we have Boosh.

We need to see what Peeke can be here, and Boosh gives him some leash.

With Boosh, Brodie, and Gio being UFA’s, we need to know now if Peeke can at least be 3RHD for us next season while we still have those other 3 to step in if needed.

If he could consistently play a solid defensive game I could care less about his offensive numbers being in decline, but it’s a costly and risky proposition obtaining him…….

Parayko for Brodie + 1st + Niemela/B Prospect. I'm good with that.
If he could be had for that I’d have to be onboard, but if he came that cheap other teams would be all over this and would have better assets to offer the Blues imo…….

Imo, it’s a low risk high reward scenario, hell if they want to blow their load (and why not.) go get Parayko too. There is no future……..

Other team are so lucky that Lou and Dubas miss handled our cap so much that I believe Toronto could had and maybe still be a Stanley cup contender.

I got a fake notification on my phone/google showing Larsson to leafs Robertson and pick to Seattle

Got excited and came here. The load time was like 10 seconds so thought the trade actually went through only for it to be a false alarm

Disapointing morning
Haha. Could you imagine if the Kraken made that trade?

A senile Lou is still twice the GM “you know who” will ever be, winners win, and if you don’t count a AHL cup “you know who” hasn’t won shit. Lou’s a first ballot hall of famer, “you know who”, not so much……..

Better indication on what Toronto would do is look @ the waiver wire at 2pm today, if they put 2 or 3 players on waivers, they'll be trying to be as flexible as possible.

100%. I hate both Lou and Dubas, but I'd take Lou's teams every single time. His Isles at least went on a few playoff runs as mediocre as they are as a team, beats anything the Leafs have done in this era.

Hunter should've been the move regardless

How much ‘term’ do people expect out of dealing the first, if the team chooses to do so?
One more year? Two? Three?
Over one or two players?
One cut off for a successful draft pick is playing 200 games. Would that be enough?

Many do not like Dumba but if I can get him cheap, I'd get him and call it a day. I like Parayko but he's already on the wrong side of 30. If the Bruins acquire Lindholm and a dman, we will be in tough as it stands.

Isn't the idea to get better defensively though, and not worse?

So why get Dumba? He's poor defensively, and his offense is gone... I just don't get why people keep bringing him up. Are we making a trade, just to make a trade?

100% but like I said, many do not like him but I think he can be better than what we have on our right side. If he sucks, he walks and you did not pay alot for him. Parayko and his contract is risky. Savard might cost you a 1st. What realistic options are out there?
