As a Habs fan everyone is on the table for Jiricek but Demidov.

Reinbacher, 1 for 1?

Lowest of the two 2025 1st + Beck + Mailloux?
They might consider Reinbacher I guess.

By lowest do you mean top 10 protected because those other 2 parts don't have a ton of value.

Beck is probably the best piece in the deal and I think he makes a good #3 center at his peak, maybe a really poor #2.

Mailloux is going to be one of those "breakout candidates" every year in fantasy hockey pools but will have trouble maintaining a top 4 spot because of his rawness.

Why are you giving up on Reinbacher already ? He’s been injured lately so I’m not too fond of that as we have Lindstrom in a similar situation
Lindstrom's injury is a big problem, I agree... He was DND in the top 10 for me for that reason.

Reinbacher got the same injury and surgery that Jiricek had.

I was really high on Jiricek in his draft year, had him at #3. Big question was always his mobility/hockey sense because he had everything else: the size, the shot, the physicality...

Reinbacher has less offensive upside, never was a big fan of the pick but he his an awesome skater and a pretty sure bet for a #3-4 at worst. Upside of a RHD McDonagh.

I just prefer the big RHD with the big shot.

Clearly the relationship has soured.

know HF generally discards highly touted prospects a couple of years into development unless they set the big league on fire, but NHL teams usually have more realistic timelines.

Because Reinbacher's D+1 was abysmal, and his D+2 was lost entirely to injury, and all that when he was a massive reach in the first place. He's in a far worse place in terms of value relative to selection than Jiricek, and even if Columbus was interested in another defenseman, they would be the immediate and future losers in a one-for-one trade.

Jiricek is literally playing in the AHL.

“Willingness to play in the AHL” is not a selling point for Columbus nor does it add value to the other player.

There is zero reason for Columbus to consider dealing Jiricek for Mailloux.

It’s tough to be in a position to potentially lose a top prospect. I’m not trying to provide a reason for CLB to trade Jiricek, that’s all been stated previously.

I think teams acquiring Jiricek could be concerned about whether they’d meet his expectations of playing a consistent role in the NHL and whether he’d be willing to work with the team if his development path was in the AHL. If Columbus were to acquire a player like Mailloux (or any other prospect more amenable to receiving direction from their organization), they aren’t facing the same issues.

So… trading a prospect that either doesn’t want to play for your organization or is unwilling to follow the development path laid out by the organization for a very similar prospect that doesn’t have those issues sounds like a decent option. Especially if your team is fond of big, puck moving RD that are PPG in the AHL.

I don’t think MTL does this, I just think it’s more likely than them trading an injured player or one of their few center prospects.

by comparison, jiricek's D+1 was incredible (straight to AHL, was rookie of the year there), his D+2 saw him yo-yo'd by a coach who had no business running an NHL bench and a GM who was on his way out, and now in his D+3 he got sent down because he wasn't going to get minutes behind severson and fabbro.

If there was any souring of relationships it was with Jarmo. Evason has spoken highly of him.

If this winds up being the case, we have a precedent with this, the Rutger McGroarty trade. If we were to trade him it would like be a similar 1 for 1.

Willander and a later pick, perhaps, I think it'd have to be a higher end piece coming back to make CBJ move him. They really have no need to, 'available' isn't any type of set in stone.

But, I might like Willander more than others on the CBJ board would. If it makes both sides wince to do it, maybe we got something cookin'
Find it interesting that anyone think he has as much value as Willander. I personally don’t want this cry baby on the Canucks unless he is a low cost and low risk acquisition. He should step up and prove himself and talk less.

No way I trade Willander for him.
