Leivo is more of what he have... he's basically Vesey.
At least Bennett is something our team is desperately missing....someone who has excelled when the game gets tighter and more physical.
Ya. You think thats a sustainable way to win 4 series? You mean their goalies won them the series and ours didn't?
Could be a fine pickup (as a plan B or Plan C) considering who might be exposed in the expansion draft, even if we lost him it'd save another player like say Dermott.Derek Ryan would be an interesting rental off Calgary if they decided to sell.
Only rentals on Ott are Gudbranson and Reilly
Nick Paul could be a depth piece they look at but he's got another year after this.
Why though? He wouldn't be an upgrade on anybody on the left side and you wouldn't give up the assets to force a double retention.Alex Edler a possibility with double retention? Wouldn't need to quarantine. He does have a NMC though
I'd say he'd be an upgrade to Dermott but probably not enough for how much they'd need to give up, now that I think about it.Why though? He wouldn't be an upgrade on anybody on the left side and you wouldn't give up the assets to force a double retention.
He's a classic example of a guy who plays a defensive role but isn't neccessarily good at it. Especially this year.
Is having the 2nd (or 3rd) best goalie in every playoff series a recipe to win in the playoffs?Ya. You think thats a sustainable way to win 4 series?
Sure if we bring money into it then there isn't a fit ... but Calgary could retain - which eliminates the concern. Unless we are worried about qualifying him.I disagree. Overpaid and healthy scratched multiple times. We can do better for the cost to acquire and cap space.
Leivo fits the cap without any issues. And he's more tenacious and aggressive than Vesey.
Hall is a great player stuck on a horrendous team. I really hope Dubas can find a way to add him for a reasonable price
He has been one of the worst PKers in the league this year. He struggles to produce offense. He is small. I am not really sure what he brings that our current guys do not, and people want to pay a 2nd + for him to boot.
It makes more sense for the Leafs to just stick with Galchenyuk at 2LW.
The only reason I think the Leafs are in on Ekholm is because I think they are dangling Dermott as a center piece (yes, among other assets). I think he's got a decent amount of value for a team looking to retool.
Leafs are losing Dermott one way or another I think, so why not go after a huge upgrade now and then hope you can make it work this off-season with Seattle/cap.
That's a bit extreme. He's been on an offensively lousy Preds team, which has likely neutered his numbers a bit. But put him in a secondary role (Tavares line) where he doesn't have to be the go to guy anymore and I'd wager hed be able to produce like a good 2nd liner now
Could be wrong but wasn't he a player who has refused to waive in the past?Alex Edler a possibility with double retention? Wouldn't need to quarantine. He does have a NMC though

Although I agree with you when it comes to us having a clear advantage on our scouting this year. It’s far too risky to defer picks to next year. Anything can happen, just ask SJ in the karlson deal. If a first goes, it should be 2021 priority over 2022. Anything outside of 1st round, I agree defer to 2022IF the Leafs get involved in a trade where they are moving a 1st round pick to another team, I hope they are able to arrange it so that it is next year's pick, and not this year's pick. With all the confusion caused by Covid this year, the Leafs should have an advantage over a number of teams who are unable to spend as much on their scouting programs in comparison to a normal year. A chance to steal a gem who skated under the radar, so to speak.

Yes he is, it's probably very unlikely he moves at this point in his career.Could be wrong but wasn't he a player who has refused to waive in the past?
