Leafs need a C and a top 4 d iffffff they are competing

Bunting. Matthews. Marner
Robby. Tavares. Nylander
Kerf. Xxxxxx. Jarnkrok
ZAR. Kampf. Malgin

Rielly. Brodie
Xxxxx. Lilly
Gio. Sandin.

This isn’t really ideal as sandin probably plays left so if we could get a player to mesh with sandin we could pair lilly and gio.

C that are ufa on bad teams

Toews (no cash owed x 2 retention). Horvat…..

Ufa D: zub. Gavrikov. Orlov. Mayfield.

Tanev would be ideal. Esp since Muz is most likely won’t be playing this year.
Can actually fit Tanev under the cap without moving salary the other way.

Curious if they could involve a guy like Engvall in a hockey trade to give a new-look on a line with Kerfoot and Jarnkrok.

If ZAR-Kampf-Malgin is going to be a line, Engvall becomes a little redundant if he's not going to produce at close to last season's pace. He also shouldn't be playing C, so you either get a C in return or commit to Kerfoot centering that line with Jarnrkok and the new addition.

Guys..if Calgary is looking to retool lets go for Kadri. I think he'd be perfect for this place...something about feels right at home... :sarcasm:

I dont think we are gonna see anything until right before christmas or new year tbh

I think it depends where do Robbie fits in.

Either way, I think an upgrade to either Engvall or Kerfoot would be great.

What about restricted Sens free agent Alex Formenton? 6'3" has a good scoring touch and is speedy, sort of your Mikheyev replacement with upside.

If Muzzin is out long term I wonder if we go with forward upgrades instead of defense. You could in theory add a group of say O'Reilly @50%, Horvat @50% and Jenner while only needing to remove Kerfoot and Engvall.

Jarnkrok moved would allow you to either run a 22 man roster or upgrade the defense as well. Assuming Robertson would be moved for one of these guys or sent down, the forward group could look like this:

O'Reilly-Matthews-Marner
Jenner-Tavares-Nylander
Bunting-Horvat-Jarnkrok/Anderson
ZAR-Kampf-Malgin

O’Reilly 50% for Kerfoot + 1st + some B Prospect if needed

Engvall - O’Reilly - Jarnkrok

Could be a nice 3rd line
ROR is a perfect fit for us at this stage, imo. The only issue will be if he still feels that drive to win. He has a lot of hard minutes on his body.

Ryan O’Reilly would be a great addition for the third line center now and moving forward. Ontario native and with a reduced role and responsibility along with a lot of hard minutes on his body, maybe the situation will appeal to him on a team friendly deal in terms of re-signing.

Also I’m not suggesting a Giordano/Spezza team friendly deal because that’ll never happen but maybe a 4 year deal at 3-4 million per type deal.

I'd be interested in the Jets deal, but no shot on the Wild one.

I love Ryan O'Reilly, he has been my favorite non leaf since early on in his career.

The question is, do we need a third line centre more than a muzzin replacement?

I think we need both. We have a few guys in 2-4m range who may need to be dealt to fill both needs, but I think the team would be very competitive with those 2 moves.

Bunts - AM - Nylander
Rob - Tavares - Marner
Engvall - ROR - Jarnkrok
Malgin - Kampf - Zar

Rielly - Murphy
Brodie - Lilly
Gio - Sandin/Holl

Wild gm Guerin laugh you off the phone. In what world do you think 2 players signed to 3 years extension this offseason including min #1d in Jacob Middleton along with duhaime Are traded? Not even realistic
