Jeannot is easily going to get a first round pick. Power forward plays with edge and has decent enough hands.
Ekholm is a very good defenseman he's going to get a big haul

If his price is a 1st pick, its a pretty easy pass

Its like waste a 1st for an engval with more physicallity...

Kypreos also brought it up yesterday (or some point this week) and that's why people are going to talk about it.
Ah, good old Kypper. lol

Did he bring it up more as a hypothetical solution, rather than a comment on Saros' actual availability?

No chance Jeannot returns a 1st, especially in a pretty deep draft. If he were repeating last years totals, probably a different story but for someone pacing for what 10 goals, 25 points? No thanks.

What makes people think that Saros is possibly available???

Asking for a friend. 😜
The same as any player that is proposed, wishful thinking backed by twitter evidence of an attention seeker.
I would be very surprised if he were made available.

He won't be available until the playoffs, if at all. And when the playoffs hit, he turns into a pumpkin anyway.

5G in 65 playoff games.
I hear ya, I'm just not sure where else in the entire NHL you can get a legitimate top 9ish player and not have any cap implications.

Do your other business but also adding him for cheap to add some depth to a team that really lacks offensive depth seems like a creative cap manipulation. It's definitely a risk and we saw with Riley Nash that it's hard to get up for it but if he comes cheap enough.

Hard pass on Nyquist even if he was healthy right now. People sit here and argue we need size, physicality and diversity within our lineup and then a name like Nyquist gets mentioned lol… I’d rather have JVR, at least he brings some size and net front presence and I don’t even really want JVR.

So are Leafs going after a top end player, or a few depth players?

Dubas is leaving the team in pretty good shape, other than the Covid-Cap.

Perhaps his drafting will come in too late for him.

Do we want Dubas to use Knies in a deal to try and progress in the playoffs, or would you prefer to aim for next year after Boston's potential wire-to-wire marathon is over?

I don't know where I land in a all-in versus stay the course.

Compromise?

Does compromise ever really succeed or does it just stop you from drowning?

For every 1st. or 2nd. round pick sent away I'd hope they'd land a future in return.

Example 1st. and 2nd. for Top 6 forward/Top 3 defender with term or that player with a late pick 6th./7th.

All in this year seems reckless, unless some futures in returned.

...

Common trades anyone?
Next yr TB is also in cap hell 3 mil to spend on 8 players I think.

Knies should not be traded we need to see what we have in him

1 st rd pk for a controllable player
Example
Laughton 3 yrs @ 3 mil

Trade for a bottom pairing tough defensive dman with size

Kerfoot & Engvall won't be traded ( I think they should )

Holl won't be traded ( I think he should )

I would go all in next year

Philadelphia would make a great trading partner. Laughton and Tippett would be amazing additions.

Bunting - Matthews - Nylander
Tippett - Tavares - Marner
Knies - Laughton - Jarnkrok
Engvall - Kampf - Holmberg

Pretty deep forward group.

If that's your perspective, then you do you, but that's clearly not the perspective of a bunch of people making incorrect claims about how we played.

Our skaters outplaying Boston's skaters had nothing to do with score effects. The same held true before there was even any score.
yeah - i don't know about that one.

I’m just wondering why Nashville would even want to trade Saros? Isn’t he their number one? What would be the reasoning behind moving him? Just honestly curious.

Coming to the conclusion the Leafs were the better team against Ottawa should leave people questioning the twitter they follow not those that saw it differently.

Twitter clicks for those reporting it is the most likely answer.

Of course the player could have asked to be moved behind the scenes.
It's hard to see a reason why the Team would want to do it.

Kipper just trying to get some clicks. Clearly worked.

I could see it as ....they have the or one of the best goalie prospects, their 'core' is getting old and not going to do it. Sell off now while you have a shot at Bedard
sell of Josi, Ekholm, McDonagh, Duchene, maybe Forsberg

I agree and wrote about this earlier. Boston/Tampa have huge cap issues next year and won't be the same teams. next year is our window
Also Boston has cap space

Boston has 3.25 mil in cap space
Example if Detroit doesn't sign Larkin
They would be unstoppable

Is a guy like Zadina a potential buy low candidate

6th OA with a lot of hype and he ends up falung for 3rd to 6th on draft night

4 years later he's struggled at the NHL level.

Leafs could use a shooting threat and we have elite play makers for him to utilize to build his value and play

He's a younger and higher upside galchenyuk

I'd deal something like Kokkonen and a 3rd for him
