Considering the Leafs always seem to lose random players to waivers, this season is already off to a success by keeping everyone lol
Though with Kampf, the coaches seem to trust him being on the ice against higher lines. Which they may not be so quick to with a replacement guy. I won't be surprised if they end up re-signing him depending on how the season unfolds.
What you speak about Kampf certainly is true. I think it comes down to cost a little bit... and of course, if the current management team is still here, if the current coaches are still here. I mean, I hope we have some success finally, but without it, there will be some changes here.
I went back, and looked at my lineup in Capfriendly, for 2022-23, and I had resigned him there at his current cap hit. There certainly is no harm, even if Douglas is ready, in Kampf being on the same line as Douglas, he certainly would be decent teacher, if they played together.
What is interesting about some of the talk around Bunting is the following....
let's say that three of the following four players, looks ready for the NHL, and are good players.... Roberston, Amirov, Knies, Malgin... I mean, Robertson and Malgin appear to be good now. Both Amirov if he continues his recovery, and Knies could be solid additions.... well, now we have an interesting question, that few seem to have brought up....
I'm also assuming that this is Muzzin's last year with the org.
We have a ton of depth in wingers... with a 18man roster, including ZAR @ $850k, and Muzzin out... and just Murray signed as a goalie, and five D, we have $13.4 mil in cap space.
We could allocate $5 mil of that to Bunting... or maybe we could get Patrick Kane for the same price? Or close? What about D instead, Dumba or Mayfield... I don't think the question should be, do we keep Bunts or not, but what the other options might be. Or if we need any wingers at all.
