They might need a sweetener to trade him where Simmonds wants ( which would be a mistake), so just waive him and see what happens. If he clears you have a useable “5th liner” to call up. Or he retires. If gets claimed he probably gets to extend his career, which is reward enough.

Simmonds will clear 100%, he cant skate and his only skill aside from punching heads and hitting is when he has 5 seconds with the puck in front of the net. Hes not providing anything.

There were times I thought he slacked off. Josh Anderson took some runs last year that weren't answered by Simmonds.

Not exactly the greatest sweetener, but maybe someone get more out of him as he's pretty low on the depth chart in a prospect-heavy Marlies team.

Simmonds, Gogolev for Future Considerations.

TOR can use the SPC slot flexibility more than anything.

Simmonds, SDA for Sheahan, 7th?

Today is massive number of waivers day. View attachment 591943

I'd keep an eye out for defensemen. Even with Sandin back, we could use a temporary depth option for a little bit (even if they end up on waivers again in a few weeks). Benn and Liljegren are hurt. Mete took that puck too. Our 7/8/9 depth is lacking right now.
