If the Leafs trade for ROR, they still have to get a left winger for that 2nd line.

Unless the plan is to play ROR there.

I think Jarnkrok has been serviceable in the top six; not ideal perhaps, but he brings a bit of a defensive acumen to the group. I'd put my eggs into the basket of boosting the third line.

How old was Kawhi when they made that trade? Was he 34? Also, one single basketball player can have a significant impact on the outcome of a game more than any single hockey player can, so you already are not comparing apples to apples here. We've seen single basketball players transcend their sports and carry their teams to championships. Hockey, not so much...

Are you really comparing what an in his prime Matthews has to offer vs what a 34 year old Kane does, now and in the future? If you are, then I think you are looking at Kane of the past vs what he is now.

We will disagree and I am leaving it at this. I want something better than 34 year old Kane. Give me Kane from 3 years ago, and it's a different story.

And how old bergeron, marchand, crosby, ovechkin, malkin pavelski, kopitar, letang, ...

Half on boston topn6 are older than kane, so if i understand Boston dont have any chance with their core as old? So if win against tampa, will be an easy win round 2 against boston with their old player?

Kane at 34 still an elite NHL player

Kane is a want... not a need. We don't really need a small talented winger, and that's no disrespect to him. We need a big bodied LW, who can play when the going gets tough, and give it back as good as they get. Second need would be a 3C. Third an upgrade D. Fourth, a small talented winger.

Now having said that... If we go out, get that big bodied LW, maybe even a 3C... and Kane still wants to come here, and all we have is some pennies in our pocket..... and Chicago would do that deal... I'm all for it.

Looking at "gritty" options for the top 6 - I compared 3 players at ES:

Any guesses on the 3? All 3 are on non-playoff teams.

Can Knies fill that big bodied LW for us this year? Bring in Kane, then move Nylander to the left side.

Save us spending some pennies on that big bodied LW.

Nylander - Matthews - Kane
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Knies - 3C - Engvall

Just a thought..

A washed Kane is still on pace for nearly 60 points this year.

A Kane that can be insulated by our team will honestly always get my interest.

There are players that are dog-shit defensively but still played huge roles in cup wins...

Kessel, Kucherov, Burakovsky,Point are players that come to mind.

That's a giant, who the heck knows... nobody knows. Chances are no though... who was the last College forward, who made an immediate impact, joining his team late in the season?

Player 3 Sean Kuraly?
Player 2 Jordan Greenway?

The problem is.. your data doesn't line up with NHL.com, or other sites... is that TOI/GP even strength only or???

This sums me up as well.

The point of the post is that Wade Allison can do everything Josh Anderson does at a fraction of the cost.

Can Wade Allison throw them like Josh Anderson and finish his checks as consistently? Also Anderson can skate okay but isn't Allison maybe average speed?

I haven't caught him in a while

Allison throws nearly twice as many hits when he’s on the ice and has fought more over the last 2 seasons.

You think Wade Allison is an option for the top 6?
I think he’d be worth a bet. His scoring rates are pretty good and he hits/fights more than any Leaf. He’s signed through next season at under 800k too.

Here's his numbers compares to Nick Paul this season:

What would you want to trade for him?

I'm open to him.

I just checked, I saw him back in 20-21 for a few Flyers games.

People are looking for mid thirties LW solutions? That score 30 points a season? With injury histories?

I've missed that, can you point out who people are talking about?

Allison might be an interesting addition to a trade, but he's not a top six, and his scoring rates aren't going to increase, with more ice time.

weegar thing got me thinking. Flames are interesting cause they also say they want to still compete

Weegar and Ruzicka for Keerfoot and Sandin? or something like that
