AHL: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins: '24-'25 The Players Sully Hates

WBS is second in points percentage in the whole league by the way. They are having an insane season
Especially considering that the NHL Pens have had the second most number of players suit up for a game this season. That, combined with a rash of injuries, has meant a lot of shuffling for WBS.

Sebastian Aho has only played 14 games. Jimmy Huntington, who was supposed to be a top six center for them, has only played 4.

They've had six goalies play at least one game and 41 skaters.

The new coaching staff and the rebuilt management/support staff has done a hell of a job.

I agree. After the trade deadline Poulin should be given a look with the big club for the rest of the season.
Poulin turns 24 in a couple weeks. He’s never come close to a ppg pace at the AHL level. He has 2 apples in 12 NHL games.

I’m fine with giving him a shot because we’re icing some pretty bad players but I’m not sure he’s considered a prospect anymore. I’m struggling to think of someone who has had success with a similar progression.

Bobby McMann?

Murashov 3rd star despite giving up 4 in the 1st period. I guess he must have made some big saves when he shut the door the rest of the game.

Seen way more in Poulin's few games than Pono and Bemstrom's.

Poulin has an element of physicality to his game that translates well. He goes to the net on offense - it's where he scored his goal last night - and he seems to have good positioning defensively.

His biggest issue has been consistency and health. I'm assuming he'll get a look following the trade deadline.

Going into his age 24 season, Michael Bunting had 1 goal in 5 NHL games and no ppg AHL seasons. And lots of AHL seasons. Perfect comp.

Similarly, Bryan Rust had had no ppg AHL seasons and was on 5 goals and 8 assists in 58 NHL games.

Blake Coleman also never has a ppg AHL season, and will get 2 points in his 23 NHL games in his second pro season aged 25. Similar-ish story with Zach Hyman.

A player in Poulin's position succeeding big is unusual but not unheard of. Becoming a useful bottom sixer even more so.

Also having seen that Jarry is back up and Blomqvist is back down -

The tank is in and part of it is keeping talent away from the mess. Don't expect them to give long looks to many guys.

Be interested to see what happes after Four Nations with the goalies. But if they're going to play Ned as the #1 then it doesn't make sense for Blomqvist to be the backup getting an occasional game.
