Why does Montreal want Samuelsson? At least Josh Anderson has a role with the Canadiens and fills a void (lack of big, physical forwards).

Samuelsson as far as I know plays mostly on the right side. Savard is toast, Matheson might be on the move. You need experience on the backend and this clears room up front (don't expect Gally to have value.

Montreal already got Alexandre Carrier as an experienced d-man for the right side (and he actually shoots right). The Habs can always find someone on a short-term, low cost contract if they feel the need to not rush a younger player. I'd have zero interest adding Samuelsson, regardless of whether someone feels Anderson would be a fair value, or if the Sabres could possibly get a better return from another team.

I don’t think anyone is actually trading for Sammy until he stays healthy for a bit, and I have no interest in Anderson. Just trading problems- I get the motivation, but we should just see if Sam can be reclaimed here, first. Still young, wasn’t long ago he looked solid, etc.
