rumblings of Weegar being available
Sometimes long-term contracts aren't really the play.

Matthew Beniers? That's a giant, who the heck knows... nobody knows. Chances are no though... who was the last College forward, who made an immediate impact, joining his team late in the season?
Did you mean to say his rates will decrease with more ice time? If they stay the same that’s perfectly fine. He’s played the majority of his minutes with Hayes and Laughton - I’d assume he can maintain his scoring rate with Tavares and one of Marner/Nylander.Allison might be an interesting addition to a trade, but he's not a top six, and his scoring rates aren't going to increase, with more ice time.
This is a very odd name to see out there, considering he just signed a long-term deal and the position Calgary is in.rumblings of Weegar being available
It's too bad Seattle is hanging around, Soucy would be a great add. This is a very odd name to see out there, considering he just signed a long-term deal and the position Calgary is in.
I’ve long clamoured for Weegar but that contract $6.25m for the next 8 years until he’s 37……. Woof.
That'd be a high risk (Calgary Weegar), high reward (Florida Weegar) proposition for any team interested. Obvious aside that the new contract has yet to kick in, it still seems strange that they'd be willing to sever ties this quickly.rumblings of Weegar being available
People are looking for mid thirties LW solutions? That score 30 points a season? With injury histories?
I've missed that, can you point out who people are talking about?
Interesting you bring him up. I am listening to the Mirtle and Siegel podcast and they had Elliotte on as a guest. He mentioned Soucy would be a nice fit for the Leafs and that Seattle would consider dealing him even though they are in it, since they don't think they would be bringing him back. It's too bad Seattle is hanging around, Soucy would be a great add.

Serious question why would you want Nyquist? He’s soft as butterWhat are the chances Dubas get's an LTIR guy like Nyquist just for the playoffs?

I just mentioned him cause he's on LTIR but could be healthy for playoffs, don't know who else is though, that's what I'm wondering aboutSerious question why would you want Nyquist? He’s soft as butter
Bertuzzi + ROR would be savvvy adds...if we could make the cap work and not lose Knies.
Bertuzzi-Matthews-Nylander
Bunting-Tavares-Marner
Knies-ROR-Jarnkrok
Zar-Kampf-Holmberg
Is playoff ready...
My spidey senses says Bunting finds a home with ROR and Knies has some Rookie legs in the playoffs
The D is fine.
What about swinging for ROR and David Perron. Inject some of that winning St. Louis culture into the Leafs. Those guys have instant chemistry and could carry Knies on the third line. You could run either:
Knies-ROR-Perron
or
Knies-ROR-Jarnkrok
Dubas is figuring it out, grit is and always will be part of this game.Friedman says the Leafs are looking for forwards with Snarl and Physicality.
Also says that the Leafs know that Tampa is a very skilled team, but also play like a bunch of "a$&holes" lmao. Interesting to hear that. Pretty much echoes my sentiments.
Friedman says that the Leafs know they missing that "Snarl" that Tampa has
Working hard, blocking shots and taking hits are considered being physical in my book. You don’t have to it every shift, but when it’s crucial , you must do it. And they didn’t , and were justly rewarded with a trip home. And that‘s how it should be.And had 92 last year
2 main player kane played last
Debrincat
Strome 16 goal 54pts pace
Last year 26 goal 57 pts pace
Debrincat last year 41 goal 78 pts
This season pace 28 goal 68 points
This season main teammane
Domi last season 13 goal 44 points pace
This season 22 goal 60 pts pace
Anasthasiou is the only one with worst stats with kane ampunt player playing with him at least 35% of the time
Its just working hard, you dont need to be physical to get it done you doing it by blocking shot, taking an hit to make a play, its put pressure on forecheck..and thats kind of thing leafs did last year against tampa... they didn't lost because of it but because lack of secondary scoring and goaltending issues
I like the idea of Kravtsov. Throw him with Holmberg and I think they can make some magic together this year, and hope they both take big strides into a bigger role next year. Both have great defensive numbers in a limited role too, but Holmberg's scoring could REALLY boost Kravtsov. Was a huge fan of him in the draft and New York is known to kill their prospects careers with poor management.
I still think my choices after Meier are Puljujarvi, Konecny, and Buchnevich. If we're going rental it's either ROR at max a 2nd+ or Kane if even cheaper than that. Not sure any other rental is even remotely interesting because I'm not paying a high pick for a Lafferty-type.
Bunting-Matthews-N/M
Jarnkrok-Tavares-Marner
Engvall-Kampf-Puljujarvi
Kerfoot-Holmberg-Kravtsov
Makes us imo significantly better for what should be basically nothing. One of the best shutdown lines in the NHL on the "3rd" line with some scoring upside with Engvall/Puljuarvi (could easily rekindle the magic they had with Mikheyev) and a very defensively responsible "4th" line with some much larger offensive upside than the 3rd.
Dubas is figuring it out, grit is and always will be part of this game.
It’s a bit of recency bias on Weegar .. I’d be looking into the price.
he scares me ...how can a defender look/play better on a team with zero defensive structure (FLA) and then lose it on a team with a solid defensive game (CAL)That'd be a high risk (Calgary Weegar), high reward (Florida Weegar) proposition for any team interested. Obvious aside that the new contract has yet to kick in, it still seems strange that they'd be willing to sever ties this quickly.
I'd do a 3rd without much thought. A 2nd or Robertson, we better be certain he's going to play, sign a reasonable extension, and improve, but id do it. Again, I loved him as a draft prospect and his D+1 was even better. It's just been since the Rangers got their hands on him his game slipped, and even then his driving skills have shown he's a fantastic player in a depth role.I'd say the Rangers would want a guy in a similar situation or a reasonable pick so you'd probably need to trade Robertson for him or a 2nd or 3rd (just guestimates)
Still yes or a no at that price?
He did that with Foligno, so I'm not sure I'm on board with the grit physicality thing
Get the best fit and if he's gritty and physical it's a nice cherry on top, but not the be all end all
Don't love that contract, at all
