I don't think Dubas has interest in Myers. This is probably the Canucks front office trying to drum up interest in their terrible dman for other teams and are using the Leafs' name to do it.

I think the Jenner acquisition is the like the trading of Rielly at the start of an extension with a NMC. Aka it won't happen., better to fantasize about 100 different possible proposals before these ones. Columbus is dead set on keeping him as their captain unless it is an offer they cannot refuse. And I'm sorry no one should offer an offer they cannot refuse for Boone Jenner.

“Shutdown” and a defensive system “raising Myers strengths”

Just because he’s big doesn’t make him a shutdown D

Its the reason why he had a carreer on the NHL... certainly not because of his offensive ability who resume at his hard shot...

The funniest thing its heard people want luke schenn who totally worst at every aspect of the game but worried about myers...

Who had been played toughest matchup in Vancouver since Myers is there? Its Myers but wheb your playing in a team completly trash defensivly as a team, its hard to look good in that aspect of the game individually..

Do you remembered how trash hainsey was in Carolina, he didnt look great in atlanta/Winnipeg or columbus/ mtl... but when he been traded to pittsburgh at the right spot in the right system looking great and after still looking great with leafs.. i think its the case with myers, at the right spot, in the right system i think he can look great

Not sure but I thought I saw somewhere in an article he could play on Wednesday possibly against Chicago. Sounds like he'd be good to go by then at least.
I guess what I’m getting at here - is keep him out the full min games to get the LTIR relief and use it for trade deadline.

If we are talking holding him back like 1 game then sure, but generally if he’s ready to go, he’s ready to go. You don’t really get to manufacture that

If leafs can get a decent asset so Vancouver can dump him with some retention and use up Muzzins cap space maybe it seems less crazy? I don't know but would seem similar to the Murray trade. Also may point to Holl pricing himself out of town

I know what you mean but like the other poster mentioned... no holding Matthews back.

They'll figure out a way to make a big trade if needs be.

They're still in a race with Tampa for home ice.

We play garbage teams next 4 games. That has gotta be close to the min….No????

If Vancouver retains 50% of Myers cap hit, I’m not completely against it given the price probably still won’t be high at all.

Actually he is only on IR not LTIR so he can come back anytime now basically. So looking like Wednesday.

IR is 7 days you can't play a game.

LTIR is 10 games and 24 days.

I don't understand the want to pick-up Myers. Like you said, he's basically a slightly (ish) better Holl that handcuffs your salary cap next year. I don't see it.
I don't believe there is any truth to this at all. Even if they thought his game was okay he has 2 years at $6M. They couldn't touch him unretained and they couldn't afford the cost of two years salary retention. And his offense is gone plus he doesn't hit so what would they be getting him for? Schenn is having a much better year and playing for $850k. He probably costs less than the retention alone.

Plus he is a right shot where they don't have a need, and he really isn't an upgrade on Holl. His salary so far outstrips his production I would call him untradeable without a sweetener. He is a reclamation you could maybe look at after Vancouver has bought him out but he isn't KD's playoff add unless he is trying to get fired.

The price to take Myers should be free, and coming with a 1st round pick.

Trades for the sake of trades that don't improve our team make no sense. I want us to improve on Holl but Myers isn't it in any way, and for all his detractors Holl has done whatever was asked of him thus far and has been one of the few and consistent players we've had on Defence this season.

If we can't get an improvement, I would much rather into the playoffs with a player we know in Holl than a player in Myers, who we hope is an improvement on what we already have. I honestly just don't see it.

You don't accrue cap when you're using LTIR. When Matthews comes back you'd have to find the cap space.

I dont really buy the Tyler Myers rumor either but I can totally see Luke Schenn being extremely overpriced and the Leafs pivoting to Tyler Myers, who might be available for really really cheap.

Wonder if Kerfoot goes the other way for salary purposes.

Pretty sure we are already operating under LTIR so we aren't able to accrue cap space even if we wanted to.

This is pretty much what I thought of too. Vancouver paying us a pick to get rid of him.

Kerfoot for Tyler Myers + Pick

But would you bet your TDL on him at $6M per year? Do you just believe its possible, or are you actually convinced he would force his way onto the Leafs right side and push someone out of the current top 6? I believe he might have more game than he has shown in Vancouver but I wouldn't take him on for 2 years to see if it might come back. The second year is the killer.

Adding barbashev and Lafferty would really change our dynamic in the bottom 6. Loads of speed, physicality and offensive upside.

Bunting - Mathews - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Marner
Engvall - Lafferty - Barbashev
ZAR - Kampf - Knies
