I wouldn't go that far, he's overpaid but far from awful
You're right, i over exaggerated. I'll go with "he's awful value" instead.

Brought in to be a defensively gritty guy who can pot 30-40 points, and hes had to be force-fed minutes to have any semblance of production while being a liability defensively. Must be nice to be the worst player on a great 3rd line to win a cup lol

I mean.... come playoffs, we will have something like 9-11 players on the 23 man roster, that weren't on the roster last year... so half the roster will have changed... but carry on with the same roster/same team schtick....
Yes
What I meant was we let soft players go and keep signing the same type of player.
As long as I can remember we have had average goaltending and a soft defence, soft forward group

Just saw Kypreos talking about the Leafs being all over Chychrun for their deadline add and it makes a lot of sense. I'm sure the cost will be pretty high if we get him, but nothing good is cheap. They are talking about Knies going the other way, but I'd much rather throw draft picks at Arizona. Knies is going to look good in our top 6 for the playoffs.

If we are dealing with Arizona, I'm hoping we're able to also nab Christian Fischer for the bottom six along with Chychrun. I'm a huge fan of Fischer, he's a guy who's got some size and a bite to his game, but he's also skilled enough to play with the guys on this roster. We need to do something about the bottom 6 for sure. They contribute absolutely nothing and we win anyway, but that isn't going to happen in the playoffs. Our bottom 6 is poo.

Edit: somebody agrees with me about Fischer I see ^

For me, picks go out the door before prospects every time.

There has to be more to this. Even at 3M this just doesn't make any sense. You don't have to like analytics, even if you watch him play, he's been terrible for a long time.
We're getting Vancouvers 1st round pick unprotected this year obviously. Only way I'd take Myers.

If Murray can't stay healthy and Wall isn't ready.
Ltir Murray

Trade for
Korpisalo

I’m sorry
And I get what ur saying but two things

1.not a guarantee matthews stays no matter how great you think it is to play for the leafs and live in Toronto
2. Did Washington get knocked out every year in the first round because it f them being too soft?
Their best player gets better and plays harder the harder the games get, does not shy away!!

No guarantee but it's the most likely scenario, it doesn't hurt were going to throw money at him and will give him an almost buyout proof deal with huge lump sums early in the deal

People called Washington chokers and said Ovi couldn't get it done when it matted, that team was mocked for over a decade because of its playoff performance

They certainly didn't say those things before they won a cup, they did afterwards though

Already responded to this - this is a good question, as is the immediate follow up which would be to question why his production hasn’t increased with the quality of teammates this year.

It's scoring by committee. They have a deep team which means they don't lean on 1 line or unit to drive offense

He's having an amazing season (from the pov of a gophers fan)

Tyler myers is not the answer Dubas..
I would say he's the last one on the list that's available.

Chychrun
McCabe
Gavrikov
Murphy
Schenn

Any of these guys would work well but not Myers...

God not Myers. I don’t see any scenario where Myers is anything but an 8th defenseman with our current D. It won’t cost any of them to get him. Waste of assets when Behn is about as good.

I think this might be the first time Leafsnation is against Dubas going after a 6’8, 230 pounds RHD.
Well like where does he play? Are we trading Holl away and giving that extra ice time to Liljegren and Myers plays on the 3rd pair as the 6th d man? When you got a guy like Chychrun making 2.5 mil less than Myers and is a legit top 4 guy with 2 years left on his contract then making a move for Myers makes zero sense when he makes 6 mil and only has 1 more year on his contract after this season. If Chychrun for some reason doesn't work out he's still a valuable asset people would want on that contract, Myers we'd most likely be stuck with no matter what.

Myers would be the 5th best RD on this team.

Myers at 6M, no but if vancouber retain some salary and get him around 3-4M... why not

Big physical shutdown D, its whats leafs need and playing for the 1st time of his carreer in a real defensive system can raise myers strenght and hide his weakness

Something like
brodie-Myers/Holl
Rielly-Holl/Myers
Giordano-Liljegren

3 pretty balanced pair in D who can play against anybody, anytime ...

Im probably the only one here whos not totally against it....

He's worse than Holl, Liljegren, Brodie, and possibly equal to Timmins.

There is no deal that would work to take him unless significant pick(Is) or prospect(s) come with him......and only for future considerations. And that is with 50% retention assumed.

he's worse than Timmins. It's probably impossible to overstate how bad of a move it would be for Dubas to go after Myers. Luckily it's coming from an extremely unreliable source
