Whats his deal? First time hearing this name. Whats his game like

Big, physical, some offensive potential. He has the best chance to be the next Tom Wilson of any current NHLer IMO.

Has a history of injury trouble, but as far as a physical winger with offensive upside goes, he’s a great target. Signed for next year below league min and is an RFA at contracts end.

Henrique is injured for awhile I believe?

Perron would be ok, not sure if they have any interest in trading him or if he has interest in moving. 4.75M into next year seems like a no go.

Yeah I sort of thought we'd move Perron again this summer. I just think his game would be great for us this year.

Didn't realize that about Henrique tho

And maybe that is it, but Keefe came out and said a few weeks ago it's not injuries and Matthews is feeling good now.

But I don't buy it. That hit could linger this long? I think we are reaching here.
He may have been saying it in an attempt to make AM's injury less of a target.

Whatever it is, it's not "hurt feelings".

Swap Kerfoot for a 3rd.
Use that 3rd + Steeves/Hollowell/similar prospect for Domi.

Whatever at this point, if Domi doesn’t play well or causes issues just waive him.

Def not.

But he better figure it the f*** out fast.

I also don't think it is because going for it when your star is injured is probably not something Kyle would do

And let's be honest it's the worst kept secret he's back. He's not the type of person to do this to save his job.

Turning an asset whose role and path to regular playing time was blocked for the rest of his RFA contract into a first and a player having a better season than him for nearly half the cap hit is sound business.

Play it out......all of

Rielly
McCabe
Gio

are signed at least through the end of next season, which is when Sandin's contract expires.

Where was his clear path to regular playing time? Staying here would have only tanked his development and value big time.
McCabe can play either side, and Rielly/Giordano with no prospects coming up is honestly pretty bleak

He was just on waivers... and nobody claimed him.

Yes stop letting these guys walk for nothing

Kerfoot, holl bye, get some picks

Domi, tanev in
Get 3 lines going, only way we’ll beat these teams in the east

Rielly-tanev
Campbell-brodie
Gio-Lilly

Stop this they can play either side on defence, build team properly

Henrique and Perron are still out there as interesting middle 6 guys
Perron would be an awesome add. If you had O'Reilly and Perron on the 3rd line, there wouldn't be a deeper forward group in the league.

Bunting Matthews Marner
Jarnkrok Tavares Nylander
Knies O'Reilly Perron
Lafferty Kampf Acciari

Now that's a playoff lineup

I would definitely be down for that. I’ve been wanting Tanev for years.

Don’t think trading McCabe for Campbell to fill out that 2nd pairing is a good idea though :sarcasm:

But with a D of:
Rielly-Tanev
McCabe-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren

I think we’ll be set

He will if his play continues to be shit in the post season

He’s nowhere near mcdavid

Take a seat bud

Why does everyone say he’s nowhere near McDavid as if anyone is even arguing that…

He’s up there or better than MacK who is making more, and any bit of a discount on his current deal and he’d be below Pasta.

Matthews will be 13 minimum on his next deal.

Because McDavid is making 12.5?
