The east arms race continues with Bertuzzi to Boston. We still got bullets in the chamber with the 2 1sts + prospects. Who could we be after?

Mitch better show a ton to be worth 12M x 8.
More than Pastranak who he hasn't out produced, and barely less than MacKinnon who is superior.
Mitch signing an extension is a couple of years away. If cap keeps rising $12m won't be as bad as $11m is today. JT's 11m will also be off the books.

Probably been mentioned but this thread moves too fast for me.

Any interest in Domi? Cost is apparently a 2nd round pick.

depends - if he has this season again next year, I wouldn't pay him much higher.

A bit more due to him being a C but that's about it.

Need to figure out what is ailing matthews this season.
That happened in the fifth game of the season.

wouldn't mind Dubas jumping on that TBH. Do we have a 2nd to use?
Yes, by using creative pick conditions similar to what happened with the Nick Ritchie trade to Arizona last season, Leafs can offer Chicago a choice between their 2025 3rd or 2027 2nd (which is basically offering them a 2nd). They just can't offer them the pick outright at the moment because it's too far down the road.

We do need another forward. Someone with offensive upside but has some grit too. Bertuzzi would've been ideal but he was a rental.

Anyone with some term would be ideal.

Henrique and Perron are still out there as interesting middle 6 guys
Mentioned Perron yesterday. Would love to get him

No, I've heard bad things about him in the locker room at various stops..... but would be funny if he got traded on his birthday. (yes he turns 28 today)

like he's 28 and already on his 5th team. Raises some red flags for me.

Watched a superstar last night, and it certainly wasn’t Mathews.
McDavid, now there is a true Superstar.

McDavid is his own tier. Thats almost always been the case. Matthews is a superstar, no doubt, but he doesn’t have it right now.

Henrique is injured for awhile I believe?

Perron would be ok, not sure if they have any interest in trading him or if he has interest in moving. 4.75M into next year seems like a no go.

That happened in the fifth game of the season.

And maybe that is it, but Keefe came out and said a few weeks ago it's not injuries and Matthews is feeling good now.

But I don't buy it. That hit could linger this long? I think we are reaching here.

Turning Sandin into a rental + a first round pick wasn't smart
Turning an asset whose role and path to regular playing time was blocked for the rest of his RFA contract into a first and a player having a better season than him for nearly half the cap hit is sound business.

Play it out......all of

Rielly
McCabe
Gio

are signed at least through the end of next season, which is when Sandin's contract expires.

Where was his clear path to regular playing time? Staying here would have only tanked his development and value big time.
