The only reason Bunting is statistically relevant is because he’s stapled to the first line with superstars. Realistically, he’s a third line player.

And we can say the same exact thing of Bertuzzi whos playing his entire carreer playing with Larkin

Wilson - like Bertuzzi (and Jeannot) - will not be worth his acquisition cost. With Wilson's playing style, he has hard miles on him as you can see that 2 of the 3 are already breaking down regularly.

Matthews has a Hart, multiple rockets, is younger, a center, and his contract kicks in a year later.

Pastas deal isnt even the floor for AM. Its $1M below the very floor, at least.

Last season yes, this season not so much Hart trophyish. That being said I think Matthews falls more in line with the Mackinnon deal around 12.5
How many Harts, 1st team all stars, Lindsays, Rockets, does McKinnon have? And before I hear differently, Cups don't and never have factored into salaries.

I mean, we would all love that AAV, but AM has an airtight case for more.

So Pastas deal is the highest end of what Mitch gets arguably Matthews as well.
I wish. Boy do I ever wish. But I don't think so.

I really hope Matthews starts playing the game the way he used to. If this is the Matthews we see for the rest of the season, the thought of contract talks with him makes my stomach turn. Best strategy may even be to trade him, and hope McDavid will come home when he can but that's a massive risk and I'm not sure I have the stomach for that either.

Quite a bit more actually. If he signs for less, it will be from his own generosity

This place is getting silly

I really hope we don't play that game with Mitch and co. Matthews can have a very slight increase to 12

And Mitch should take 10M and call it a day. You took the max and didn't deliver, time to downgrade to give your boyhood team some space. You still get paid as an elite player.

I don't see anyone taking less than they're making now. A slight raise for both of them is I think the best we can hope for.

They aren't taking cuts, nor should they.
