Last night during the second intermission he said they had genuine interest in the past and that he wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get him but it seemed like more speculation.
It's weird that so many here know the COVID rules but Dubas and Freidman don't.

That Bertuzzi trade seems like a fairly substantial overpay for a guy having a fairly meh season with injuries too. Lesson learned, be wary of making trades with Yzerman.

Bruins paid market rate for Pasta. He maybe could have gotten 250-500k more on the open market, but up for debate. Player favorable movement clauses too. Though Bruins overall should be pleased he committed to the team

It was a smart move by them. Marchy/Bergeron aren't going to be around much longer, and they had to decide whether they were rebuilding (potentially letting Pasta go for nothing) or keeping McAvoy/Pasta and building around them. Seeing how they're two of the best players in the league I think they made the right choice.

Boston added a worse skating, lower scoring Bunting, that’s made of glass, and people here are pissed

Also, people saying we need to respond seem to forget that we made 3 trades 2 days ago. This would technically be Boston’s response

The only reason Bunting is statistically relevant is because he’s stapled to the first line with superstars. Realistically, he’s a third line player.

A lot of cash. Especially with the boatload he will have already made.
Could easily get Panarin money. Assuming the cap rises only 4MM, that puts him to around 12.4MM
Guess it depends on whether some of the fans turn on him again and threaten his family and stuff.
Wut?

I really don't think the Leafs are going to be sitting a defenseman on pace for 50 points this season and a guy they just paid a 3rd for every game. I fully expect Gus or Holl to be traded in the next few days and I'd expect the lineup to look similar to:

Rielly-Gus/Schenn
McCabe-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
I can also see

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Schenn
Giordano - Liljegren

But Rielly - Gus would be a complete disaster if together…

Vehemently disagree. Good players play well with good players, and Bunting has proven he's a good player and compliments whoever he plays with. Is he a legit top-line play driving talent? No. But he'd be statistically relevant on any team in a top-9 role.

Exactly why the Leafs shouldn't be afraid to play hardball with him in negotiations. He hasn't proven to be irreplaceable. Jarnkrok has been just as effective when playing in the top 6 and we have young guys hungry for an opportunity in that kind of role; most notably Knies but Steeves as well.

Bertuzzi would have been a great add for just a 1st round pick. He's the exact right fit as someone who can play high up in the lineup to score goals and agitate the other team. He's also historically lit Tampa and Boston up in his career. Not really sure who else is left out there now

Unless Bergeron and Krejci come back on Gio deals, the Bruins are due for a cap related regression next season. They are at almost $73 million already for next season and that doesn't include the overages they will have from the bonus laden contracts of Bergeron and Krejci. That could land as high as $4.5 million.

Sure, exactly what Bertuzzi is, but a better version

Just like Hyman, his ability to play an effective role next to star players is a plus

I’m sorry, this is just cope. Bertuzzi is better in nearly every way. I also don’t think Bunting is particularly effective in his role either. He’s just a body that they have to play there because who else do we have?

Thats exactly the lines I said lol. I think people are clowning on Gus' defense way too much. He's not Rielly level bad and you shelter the absolute hell out of the pairing. Keep Gus' minutes exactly how Washington did and play Rielly right beside him (and more because they rotate Rielly with everyone).

Yup, that’s why I mentioned “I can also see” as in I was agreeing with you in terms of Schenn playing with Rielly :DD

Okay.

One player is available to play regularly. One isn’t. Bunting is objectively a better skater. Bertuzzi’s 4g in 29 games is really burning up the stat sheet….

Gimme your hypotheticals, though

I'm not going to spend 2 minutes listening to Nathan. Good hockey player but if we're talking about Marner's family being threatened, I'd hold out for a more reliable source. Do you have anything else?
If you don't listen you won't hear him saying people were coming after his family

I think most people here heard of the possible problems from Friedman or from someone on here who heard it from Friedman., It was from Friedman that I first heard of the possible issue.

In any event, maybe you have me on ignore or maybe you just missed it but here is my response to your comments last night about Friedman's apparent ignorance of the COVID rules.

---
Given that Friedman was he first person I head mention it a couple of weeks back, he was certainly aware of the possible issue. But I haven’t heard him mention it lately, so I wonder f they have gottten some kind f clarification that it does not apply.

EDIT: From a brief Google search, I’m not sue that his Work Visa expires when he leaves a U.S. joB, but rather at a specific time. So, my vying to Canada to do a job may not effect his US status.

I’d also like to point out that Friedman, when discussing this, only mentioned that it might be a possible issue not it was a definite issue. I think I did the same thing when I’ve brought it up on here.

Bringing in Tom Wilson would be like a fever dream, but the cost would be astronimical.

I'd trade Minten and 2 firsts and send out Kerf to try to balance salary a bit. I doubt it's enough and I doubt WAS even trades him for anything short of massive overpayment.

Two firsts + Minten or Niemela will be the overpay necessary to get Crouse. I'm on the fence with this one.
