Good. Rather use our assets on an F or D upgrade. Maybe both.
Samsonov is a beast and Murray just needs to stay healthy.
Yeah that was an insane price to pay for a guy with 5 goals this year hopefully this one finally bites them. But a lot of us said that about Hagel too.Hopefully they lost their golden touch with the Jeannot deal.
He is also not trading a 1st for a rental right? Theres no reason for him to say yes and unsettle the current goalies unless something gets done. He literally went through this last year with the MAF rumours.
Can't see it. One of our beat reporters remarked that Schenn wouldn't be happy as the 7th D, I really think he'll be in there the vast majority of the time.
I also just think it becomes bad asset management to keep 9 NHL defensemen when some are expiring. Ideally in a package for a forward, but if nothing else recoup a pick to use in next years trading splurge.
Sounds about right. The team arguably had defencemen in quantity prior to the acquisition of Schenn. I don't think Dubas makes that trade if he was entirely happy with what was already here. Can't see it. Give me a gritty winger that can score with term daddy Dubas.
I mean, I believe we’re not in the goalie market, but like, he clearly wouldn’t be asking Dubas directly. Moreso sources linked to the Leafs
Not sure who is out there tbh. I assume Arizona wouldn't want to give him up.If you want Crouse just say so... who else does that fit... and is he even available?
Or mix of both. Sell a D and use those picks to add a LW.Friedman has put cold water on the goalie acquisition.
So LW acquisition or simply liquidating a D for some picks to help recoup assets.
Toffoli maybe. Saad? Greenway? If you want Crouse just say so... who else does that fit... and is he even available?
The D depth was acquired for a reason. They will keep it.Can't see it. One of our beat reporters remarked that Schenn wouldn't be happy as the 7th D, I really think he'll be in there the vast majority of the time.

A forward has to be coming. Someone with scoring ability. We are a forward short.Give me a gritty winger that can score with term daddy Dubas.
Agreed. If that's what it takes I'd do it.I think Garland would be a sneaky under the radar get.
About 6 weeks back Dhaliwal was saying Garland was a potential buyout candidate, which seemed absolutely insane to me. But apparently they want to clean house.
If that truly is the case, how much more than Kerfoot + prospect would be required to get Garland at $3 million ($1.9 million retained)? They can flip Kerfoot for a pick or 2, so they get solid value while saving money and 3 years of dead cap space.
Anyone still think we can extend Nylander for less than 10M?
Yeah that makes sense. Depth in the playoffs is crucial, I though they'd look to add another Dman but Sandin out, Schenn and Gusty in could be it (in addition to McCabe of course). Not bad at all IMO.I think that Gusty is here in case something happens to Rielly, and to give Gio (or any LD) rest down the stretch. I believe that Schenn will spot in for Holl depending on opponent until one clearly grabs the job.
But it's such a great feeling to have D depth, and G depth.
This is a lineup composed of nothing but depth. Might actually be better than some bottom feeders. lol
Gustafsson - Schenn/Holl
Benn - Timmins
Kral - Mete
For the record, while he's having a great season - Hagel did next to nothing in the playoffs last season, and if they don't win a cup with him and Jeannot....that's a huge whiff.Yeah that was an insane price to pay for a guy with 5 goals this year hopefully this one finally bites them. But a lot of us said that about Hagel too.
I’m not expecting a big add, at this point. But I enjoy having this sneaky feeling that they’ve got the pieces to add someone no one saw coming if they want.If you want Crouse just say so... who else does that fit... and is he even available?
IWhen contracts are negotiated you always look for comparables.I dont understand how larkin contract around 8.5 M can raise nylander value...
At same salary if i have to choose between both, i take larkin all day long... and please dont tell me its because he wws in pace pf 100 season, nylander playing with one of 10 best NHL player, larkin his best teammate is 20 pts behind him
Why would his agent use anything but Marner/Matthews as his comparables. He's doing the exact same thing as Marner but scoring more goals on either line we put him on. He's outplaying our 11 and 11.6M centers every single game this season.I dont understand how larkin contract around 8.5 M can raise nylander value...
