What Grigorenko situation? Where did that come from?

Came from speculation that he'd potentially start a problem by not reporting to wherever they tried to send him to develop.

Nothing concrete, just my random speculation.

Meh. Could be interesting. On a separate note...

I really don't get and never have understood all the Burmistrov love. Talk about an absurdly over rated prospect? Career high 28 points in 76 games. Didn't like the pick for the Thrashers when they made it. Wouldn't like it if the Rangers traded for him.

Gross said something today along the lines of:

I wonder if Callahan is the thread holding the sweater together, and if trading him unravels the whole thing.

It would be a big blow nonetheless.

Also, does losing Callahan lose you Girardi? Staal? Richards is inevitably gone too.

How many of the core we actually want to commit to will be enticed to stay seeing this unfold?

And for what? To give Stastny and Stewart the money that the guys they came up with should have gotten?

Makes you really wonder if trading Cally is in the best interest of the organization moving forward.

There needs to be concessions from both sides. 6 years for 5.85 million. Split the years from 5 and 7, go down from the 6 million for 5 year aav.

Rangers concede on an extra year, Callahan concedes from his ridiculous asking price. We remain competitive.

I'd rather give Callahan 5.85 for 6 than Stastny 7 or above for 7.

Fun game to play.

What if Callahan is the only the holding the Rangers back from being a dynasty?

Or, we could try to trade Callahan for a highly talented center prospect (Grigorenko?) and not sign Stastny.

Trading Ryan Callahan will have literally zero impact on us resigning Marc Staal.

Maybe, but I think a slow, but massive, overhaul of the entire forward corps has been inevitable for a few years.

this please.

:handclap:

If there was one player that held this team together, it would be Lundqvist and not Callahan by a large margin.

On pure play. Absolutely.

Vocal in the locker room? I would say Callahan would have a lot of weight... maybe even more than Hank.

Yep. I went from thinking we were doomed when Cally got hurt, to barely noticing that he was gone. IF we make the right trade it will be a one step back for two steps forward kinda deal.

I agree 100%. No disrespect to Callahan or Drury before him, but for all intents and purposes, Henrik has been "the" man for the past 6 years.

Also, do people really think Girardi could land us Coyle+? I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Just throwing this out there . I was wondering on what others thought about Iginla ? I doubt the Bruins resign him and we could probably get him for 4-5 Million on a 2 year deal which gets us past Cally and gives a kid more time to ready themselves on the farm .We save a Million or two over keeping Cally...and we pick up a piece or two trading Cally as a UFA . Of course...maybe Iginla will stay with the Bruins...who knows ? Iginla has decent numbers this year and would replace some of the lost leadership if we lost 3 UFA guys and Brad R .

People do think that. This person thinks that posters here have their demands set way to high on possible returns for Callahan and to a lesser extent, Girardi.

Wouldn't be a bad move, but I see him staying in Boston.

He skates like he has 200 pound ankle weights attached to each leg.

I bet Cally really inspires the locker room with his platitudes and hockey cliches

I honestly want Chris Stewart and the reports that we'd get Stewart + really works for me.
Kreider stepan Nash
Stewart stastny zucc
Hagelin brassard kristo
Carcillo Boyle dorsett

That's a deep team and we could always move prospects or brassard to sure up holes we have. Miller needs to be the 3C but I don't see us trading brassard. From now till the start of next season is going to be very interesting

The reason the Rangers are holding the line on Callahan is because they already have 2 top-6 capable RWs on the roster besides him. Why would they then pursue another, rather than looking for a good 3rd line RW?

Agreed. I think if Slats was actually hearing names like Coyle and Grigorenko being mentioned that deals would have been made already. At least I would hope that would be the case.

Coyle+Dumba would be an absolute fleecing of Minnesota.
