Better to give up a player who can be signed long term before becoming an FA than one who cannot. I'd bet we could get more for him now than if we do sign him to his QO and trade him afterwards.

Ideally we sign him long term to a fair deal but if it is looking he will be needing a contract by July 1st (or whenever the date is) we cannot be the ones to send him off to free agency like we did with Stone. You trade the player to a team he could go on a playoff run and sign long term with in order to get max return.

That's what I meant by saying his value drops from here meaning from here to the TDL. If we are forced into keeping him at his QO or trading him sat that time his value will be less. Dorion is likely not able to make that deal at this time up to the TDL before new owners are in place. That might be a bad call.
 
Someone post a tweet in the Arizona forum. Kings gonna make a swap of goalie. Probably Vejmelka add to Chychrun. Damn exactly the deal I want for the Sens

We’re you willling to part with a Brandt clarke level prospect? (We don’t have one)

Tolvanen “only an ahler” now 9 goals in 19 games since changing teams. “Players like him become available every day on the waiver wire”.

I think our first unprotected + Pinto would have more value to Clarke

To be fair, our first this year will probably be a Brandt level prospect the way things are going...

Our offer would have had to be our 1st +, Pinto + or Greig +, hard to know what the plus is without knowing what it took beyond Brandt,

With this two guys in the line up. We probably finish 12-15 , so if bad luck and win lottery , a jump of ten spot. The top ten this year set for forward. We are pretty set for a good numbers of year for top 9 if we sign DeBrincat. I think a deal is probably in place but just want to announce when the new owner came place

though im under the impression that CLarke is more of a top 4 guy than a top pairing guy

I think clarke is viewed as a future top pairing guy.

protected i would but i think thats more valuable than clarke if are putting greig in

you are getting a top pairiing defensemen. Also looks like they will also get Vejmelka

lets see the whole deal

also don't think many view Clarke as a top pairing guy

I am not, particularly since I'm not convinced Chychrun solves our issue at RD.

I'm just saying we have pieces we can trade if we want to get a top tier piece.

Imo, any one of Pinto, Greig, DeBrincat and picks could be on the table for the right return, I want to have strength at D the way Tbay added McDonaugh and Sergachev on top of Hedman, and Strallman, but I'd just rather not just load up the left side like they did if possible.

Ideal world we could get ourself a player like Sergachev (only RH) to finish off the D. Oddly, Brandt Clarke could have been that, still ticked off we had that strong finish push us out of contention for him or Guenther. So happy we went 9-2-1 in our last dozen so we could draft Boucher (not his fault he was drafted there, just thought we'd be picking top 5 but we can't even tank right) ...

Alternatively, do you really want Dorion making a major deal right before he potentially gets his pink slip?

Besides, at the draft is a better time to move him if we want anything other than just futures,

I'd hope he would do what's in the best interest of the franchise and not what's in his own best interest.

If there's any doubt about that he should be fired immediately and Bowness should be made interim GM.

Based on the talk about the Sens acquiring a D despite not being anywhere close to the playoffs and now keeping DeBrincat even though he doesn't want to stay, I think the latter is more likely.
 
Even if DBC wants to stay why would you sign before the summer if you are him?

This is a summer problem
 
Also remember DBC won't have trade protection for next year. He probably wants to know what the direction of the team is from the new GM and ownership. Could get stuck in a sign and trade situation

lots of reason to wait and see how this thing unfolds
