Lapierre takes a penalty in the first period. Hollowell grabs Lapierre after the whistle = no even-up penalty for Hollowell

Bemstrom takes a penalty late in the second. Hofer grabs Bemstrom after the whistle = even-up penalty for Hofer

I don't agree with it, but the secondary altercation rule has been around for a while now. Brawl deterrent I guess.
Smith's wasn't the second altercation because the Pen didn't get tossed. 32's fight was the "secondary altercation" based on who got tossed. I'm the last one to question officials, but some of these decisions are mind boggling. Seems like misconduct are handed out based on the player not the actual offense sometimes. The penalty Hofer just got is another example of a headscratcher. At least we've got goals tonight!

SC boys came to play tonight.

A team of ECHLers just took out the Baby Pens. Love to see it, even if they made it way too interesting again

ETA And they were down two forwards for 2/3 of the game too. You are indeed correct @swansonsays ... aggressor game misconduct on Smith? BS.

I’m assuming it was due to the extra punch/punches he threw while Renouf was on the ice. That’s the only thing that makes sense there.

WBS throwing a fit about the late no goal. MacDonald was pissed that Giant Center showed the replay of the no goal while the refs were talking about overturning it. Looked like the right call to me.

Sour grapes:

Just watched most of the game. Lapierre looked really good. didn’t notice Iorio so much. Maybe that is good. Bear has been solid. nice to have him to call up if needed on a deep run.

Doesn’t matter what it hit. He had his stick level to his visor, and it went off his stick/arms while at that level.

That was not a goal.
I don't think that's right. It's only a high stick if it hits the stick and goes in. if he had his stick up but it hits off his arm, then it's a good goal. I didn’t see the game/play but I'm pretty sure that's the rule.

Regardless of the goal call (because I definitely don't get paid enough to make those), I swear to god every time we face the baby penguins they pull some BS like that push from last night. I don't think our games against philly usually go this bad. What is up the baby pens dude.. THE REGULAR PENS DONT EVEN PLAY LIKE THIS

If I'm interpreting the rules correctly, this falls under 81.3 (High-sticking the Puck / Disallowed Goal). The relevant portion reads:
When an attacking player causes the puck to enter the opponent's goal by contacting the puck above the height of the crossbar, either directly or deflected off any player or official, the goal shall not be allowed.
To me, that seems pretty clear. It does not matter that the puck hit his arm after the contact.

Note that the rule later confirms that the determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick which I believe a few posters have already stated.
