What’s the deal with Norris? Is there a chance the Sens would move him to open space (cap and opportunity) for Pinto? I get that they just signed him long term, but just curious.
They are not moving Norris, not only did they just sign him for 8 yrs but he is one of their best young players who can do a lot of things well.

I keep thinking how much better this roster would be with Connor Brown, Alex Formenton and Nick Paul still on it.

1A: Brady - Norris - Bath
1B: Cat - Stu - Giroux
2B: Formenton - Pinto - Brown
3A: Motte - Paul - Watson

The Jakob Chychrun sweepstakes are inching closer to a resolution.

Still on the shelf with a wrist injury, the Arizona Coyotes defenceman has had the rumour mill buzzing since before last season’s trade deadline. The reason for the intrigue is clear enough — standing six-foot-two and tipping the scales at 220 pounds, the 24-year-old is only a season removed from a breakout campaign that saw him lead all blue-liners with 18 goals, totalling 41 points through 56 games.

Better still, his rare blend of physicality and offensive prowess is under contract for two more years after this one at just $4.6 million per season, a steal of a cap hit.

But a deal to move Chychrun has yet to come to fruition. And according to Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek, the Coyotes’ asking price has been the central obstacle to this point.

“Look, the Arizona Coyotes want to trade Jacob Chychrun. Jacob Chychrun has also asked for a trade. The price for the defenceman remains high,” Marek said Saturday during Hockey Night in Canada’s 32 Thoughts segment. “It's essentially the equivalent of two first-round draft picks, plus. So, that would be a combination of prospects, picks and players as well.”

......................

Again, however, Arizona's hefty asking price has stalled talks on a potential trade.

“It doesn't sound like the Ottawa Senators — although there has been some talk between the two — they don't want to let go of Shane Pinto or Ridly Greig or Jake Sanderson or anyone like that,” Marek said Saturday. “That doesn't seem to be a path they're on.”

..........................

Marek suggested the Los Angeles Kings as a potential landing spot for the former Sarnia Sting defenceman.

Assuming Norris needs surgery, what do you guys think about claiming Foligno if he gets put back on waivers?

They're likely going to need to do it eventually

I wouldnt hate adding Bear.

He was good for Edmonton in pretty tough minutes in 2020-2021 and was decent for Carolina last year. Wouldn't give up much at all because he's not a great fit for us but I would look at flipping Harrington, Rubins, or Larsson and a late pick for him.

Also, if we LTIR Norris, we will have about 12m in available cap space. Might be able to add a top 4 rhd and a top 6 player if needed.

Yeah I would be surprised if someone gives them a prospect that is of same quality of a Sanderson, Pinto or Greig.

They are gonna get JBD or Thomson level of prospects.

So you say we "ltir" our way to a cup ala TB?
Ya, that would be fun and great. But, many/most contracts have multiple years of term. So, still need to consider our cap situation next year. Things is, it might go up $4 m to $86.5 m, or might only go up $1 m to $83.5 m. That difference could impact the plan considerably.

Pinto has thus far shown a lot more than Chytil yes, but Schneider legit is able to play top 4 already, it's jsut he's under Fox and Trouba. Chytil will still be a fine 3C.
Schneider has not shown he can be a top 4 because he hasn’t done it. I like Schneider but there are serious warts in his game, such as decision making when pressured.
