nope hi is not injured always..

only missed 20-21 after 27 games, and returned before play-offs.

other is good 82-76-72-67-79

point is hi is cleary defensive, cant shoot, :( like demelo :d.. zub also very bad shooter,

when you have other side chabot or sandy, you have space to shoot, its missing bonus to add some minimum tip in goals..

this year , what i saw always good position is holden or hamonic, always.. and its very bad for us :d..

Carlo would be an interesting addition, and effectively round-out the top-4. Not sure what Boston would be seeking in return... presumably one of Bernard-Docker or Thomson.

It's also interesting that Tyson Jost was put on waivers by Minnesota. Just further evidence of how relatively poor that 2016 draft class was, and how relatively lucky the Senators were to avoid having it be a critical part of their rebuild. Consider for a minute that instead of Brady Tkachuk, that #4th overall pick would have got them Jesse Puljujarvi... or that instead of Jake Sanderson, picking the top D-man at #5 would have yielded Olli Juolevi.
Carlo would seemingly be a great fit. Weird they are looking to move him..

The 2016 draft had a bunch of stars after the 3 spot. Tkachuk went 6th McAvoy went in the early teens.

Don't want Karlsson..
Having Karlsson would improve our RD significantly; however, the $11.5M AAV would be tough to pay and make other signings tough/impossible to make. SJ would have to retain a substantial part of his cap hit to make it affordable and amenable.

Every draft will have a few stars, but there were a ton of 1st round busts in 2016.

Puljujarvi, Juolevi... busts in the top-5
Nylander, Jost, Brown... busts in the 6-15 range
Bellows, Cholowski, Gauthier, Rubtsov, Borgstrom, Jones, Tufte, Johansen... busts in the 16-30 range

Right up there with 2012, 2014, etc. in terms of the sheer volume of underwhelming 1st round prospects.

I think he has had 5 concussions and he doesn’t play the same way as he used to. Much less physical.

Nick Perbix is a name you don’t hear very often but I’ve watched a few Tampa bay games this year and he’s always stood out. RHD who has size, moves pretty well and has got some offence to his game. He’s not afraid to throw the body around either.

Ideally we’re looking for somebody more established but he’s an RFA at the end of the year and I think Tampa will have a hard time re-signing him if he keeps putting up points like he has. Could be a guy we could look at trading for.

EK makes sense based on the dollars owed. He's owed about $8M per year in cash now I think.

If the team values EK at $8M cash and knows it's internal budget will always be at least $3.5M below the cap going forward then the cap is a bit of a moot point. And we can get a great player for essentially no assets going back.

Trading for anyone overpaid in cap but with big bonuses works under the same premise. JT, for example.

With the sale though this probably doesn't make sense.

I think certain posters are peddling that as the main reason as to why so many dont think its a good idea. When in reality its the players age specifically relative to the core of this team its best players are 20 years old, Karlsson is 32. The term of the contract and what they are going to have to pay younger players on this roster to retain them. When you really look at it, its a bad idea if the teams really trying to win a Stanley Cup. It will cost them atleast one of Zub, Sanderson, Debrincat or Pinto from a contract perspective. When this team is ready to compete will Karlsson still be a prime performer? Those players will be.

While the latter isnt the main reason, the impact it could have on the room isnt something to completely look over.

Lastly I think its interesting that so many people want Dorion replaced but trust him in this scenario...

Overall people just need to be more patient in general with this group its very young and hasnt had a new coach yet. Will be interesting to see the impact a new coach will have whenver it does happen.
Thats a given IF those 2 re-sign
Thats a group that will age together of course
When do you think this group is ready to compete in your opinion ?

A few more comments on 6'9 220 lbs Stepan Falkovsky:
At 25 years old he is right around the same age that we signed Artem Zub. Also like Zub he plays for SKA. Finally he played for the Ottawa 67's so he is already familiar with the area.

Here are a few recent clips of his:

Is this the kid that the 67s drafted and then he had a massive growth spurt and when he showed up to camp they had no idea who he was cause of the growth?

EK fan here. Their is no fit, we need a defensive D-Man. I rather Keep Cat, Zub and Sandy and they all going to need to get paid.

EK is like a home coming UFA signing for cheap or playoff run. As I stare at my autographed eK65 framed jersey. 🫣

Often? I’ve never heard that name once

The Hockey News article I just read said a deal was vetoed by a player recently. Does anyone know who that was?

Edit: goodness, Freidman was really reaching it appears. Someone somewhere vetoed a move. Ok, thanks!

Penguins fan here. Brian Dumoulin is having a rough start to his season and may be available. Left-handed defensive defenseman but has a good outlet pass. Not physical but pairs well with an offensive defenseman. This is the last year of his deal at $4.1M.

And I'm here on your board instead of the main trade board because that place is just straight up terrible.

The only way we take on a LHD is if they are a game changer I imagine. Even then, it’s not where our need is.

For all the negativity EK gets from some people here. There isn't a Senators or NHL captain who got more out of his teams than Karlsson.

It's funny to me that Brady is supposedly one of the best captains in the league yet he hasn't led his team to a meaningful game in his career.

While EK played on teams with arguably less talent and ones that everyone counted out and there we would be in the playoffs with pesky, gritty, no quit teams led by Karlsson. The Hamburgler run and the 2017 run where two of the most impressive impressive captain performances in senators and league history.

Brady, Chabot, Stutzle wish they could lead a team like that.

Tkachuk is a significantly better captain than Karlsson. That will become blatantly obvious over the course of Tkachuk"s career.

Yet Karlsson led teams battle harder, with more poise, and consistently punched above their weight.

While the only consistent thing with Brady led teams is getting eliminated in October.

And I'm not blaming it all on Brady, just contrasting the hilarious difference in actual results and performance between omg the best captain and what some people here consider a cancer because melnyk said so.

And how long have you been part of both locker rooms to know that so and so is significantly better? We don't know shit, just how cohesive the team looks and performs.

I like Falkovsky's size. Can he play well enough to become an NHL player?
