Sens reportedly one of the teams (Edmonton, Toronto and LA are the others) interested in Vladislav Gavrikov.

LD
26 years old
6'3, 221lbs
22:10 per game in Columbus
Upcoming UFA

He'd make a great shutdown pairing with Zub, but the price would be very high. And I don't see how we could afford him after. He'll get more than Zub as a UFA.
I’ve always liked Gavrikov I’d easily give up Joseph and a pick for him

Then work something to get EK back

Chabot Zub
Sanderson Karl
Gavrikov Hamonic

Never played Jr B in the valley. I did play CIS though? You?

If you think having clique teams works better than ones that get along have at it. I can't agree. Sorry!
Having cliques doesn't mean the team doesn't get along, there's a distinction between guys breaking into groups within the team that they hang out with and guys being at each other's throats. Nothing wrong with the former, potential problems with the later

I don't think you have a very good grasp on the team concept if you actually believe this. Maybe you're just being stubborn to try and prove your point? I'm not sure. But suggesting that being a shitty teammate has no impact is simply not true. Atleast the people running these NHL organizations don't think so. Or they wouldn't interview players etc.
Bert just let it go dude

Don’t we know Zaitsev vetoed a deal to Chicago for Murphy

Do your connections say he doesn’t enjoy hockey anymore

The last time I spoke to this contact regarding Karlsson was before the season. He had told me that any time they got together Karlsson refused to talk hockey, engage in it or discuss at all. Whereas as guy like Freddy Claessen is obsessed with it and studies and enjoys it but unfortunately sucks.

Karlssons passion and drive for the game has long been questioned

"Connections" almost always being loose associations that provide second or third-hand info that can hardly be described as reliable.

The way some people talk about the locker room you'd think they have their own stall. Most of it is BS.

Fair enough

I don’t think that kind of speculation is stable enough to question Karlsson’s commitment. When I go out with work friends I don’t want to talk work at all either.

This team is such ass. Stop going tic tac toe. Where do you get this confidence? You’re last. You’ve always been last

Right ..... the guy that came back from a torn achilles in two months. The guy that played on a broken foot because he wanted a Cup so badly. I'm sure Karl is far from the only player that doesn't want to talk about hockey outside the rink. He has a family - you think he spends his off days at home studying hockey, or you know, spending time with his family?

What is this idea that EK is bad because he was friends with Kane? I guess McDavid and Draisaitl are jerks too because they invited him in with open arms and enjoyed putting up big numbers with him....

And if we're going to talk about how bad 17-18 went, which I think @DaveMatthew summed up well, why not bring up the 16-17 team? Boucher was nothing but praise towards Karlsson and his leadership/work ethic that season. Sure they had a strong leadership group with Andy, Turris, Ryan, Phaneuf, Methot, and MacArthur, but EK was the Captain and the guy leading the way. And he walked the walk when he came back in Detroit to help secure them a playoff spot.

Love Karlsson, but this organization has to stop with the retreads. Bringing guys back home again rarely works. Be even harder for a guy who was a superstar here. Anything less than PPG for Erik and the casual fans would scream bloody murder.

But we do need a legit 1/2nd pairing RD. Two of them if Zub doesn't sign soon.

So you guys.. There’s a team that has a RD that’s playing the best hockey of his career and putting up over a PPG. He’s signed for five seasons and his current team would eat enough salary to get him down to a 7 million dollar cap hit.

They’d also accept Zaitsev back, where he likely can’t block the trade and they’d also gladly take Joseph to even the cap long term. They’re probably only going to want a few additional assets after that, and not even blue chip talent.

He’s got a NMC but would waive to come to Ottawa. Just one small caveat - he used to be the captain of your team. It’s Erik Karlsson.

Personally, I think it’s a perfect match. Our system is essentially Run ‘n Gun hockey where EK would slide right in. We might finally get Brinsky going with that slick EK sauce.

This is a dream scenario. A elite D at a fraction of the cost to acquire. You roll the dice on this 110 times out of 100.

Again, all up to Erik. He’s not coming back to be our saviour - he’s coming back because he’s the missing piece.

Maybe this was Dorions last move all along

It’s like we loaned Erik to San Jose for Norris, Stützle, a 70% chance of a future #1 goalie (Soogard/Merleinen) and the joy of shitting on Chris Tierney for three seasons.

And they’re going to do us a solid by taking back our two worst contracts, a couple of picks and a prospect we probably can’t find room for.

It would be Einstein level genius.

If another team like Arizona can get involved and retain even more salary, I don't mind giving up some of the prospects we have cooking that might not have room on the team for the next couple years in the top 6 (Sokolove, Jarventie), heck I'll even give up guys that we'd need for our depth in Boucher, Crookshank, etc... Replacements for those are harder to find than a legit top4 RD, which EK still is.

If Dorion gets Karlsson back, especially at a caphit below $7-8 million...don't even have the words to articulate it. Dont think it'll happen though
