If St Louis decides to sell, would this work for both teams:

To Ottawa: Ryan O'Reilly + Justin Faulk
To St Louis: Josh Norris + Artem Zub

No way I'm doing that as a Sens fan, but it doesn't make sense for either team.

Blues have 13M in cap space coming up next off-season with 9 players to sign.

They were likely going to let O'Reilly and Tarasenko walk after this season, now they'll probably trade them if they don't turn things around.

They don't actually have the money to take on Norris next year, nor do they need him. They'll just promote Barbashev or shift Schenn to center.

Only player I want from St.Louis is Parayko and to get him I think we'd have to give up Greig, a 2024 1st, Thomson/JBD and another lower tier prospect (which I'm happy to pay).

I think they'll either extend O'Rielly for super cheap or trade him for some assets at the TDL (just like they do with Tarasenko)

Given what DJ looks for in defensemen, probably Dillon or Stanley from Winnipeg.

Jets have a lot of depth on D. Heinola has complained about not getting a shot because of all the D ahead of him.

They also badly lack forward depth, so they'd probably want a top 9 forward in exchange. Other than gambling on Formenton returning eventually, not sure who we'd be able to offer.
Probably Myers’s from Vancouver. Zaitsev would have to be going the other way along with something decent.

No I don’t think it would.

Kevin Francis says we asked about shattenkirk and Murphy. Which means truth

So we give up the younger players with room to grow still for the older guys on the downswing? Lmao

Jet's fan here. Rumor is Ottawa is talking about getting a D from Winnipeg. Who would you guess would be the target, and which forwards would be available? Pinto or Batherson would help the Jets, but who would be a fair D in return? Morrissey would be unavailable, but I suspect for the right price, any of the others could be moved.

Pinto as a trade option is a non starter, even moreso with his torrid start to the season and Norris' injury. Batherson is on an incredibly team friendly contract and almost certainly won't be moved either.

I don't want Dorion doing anything unless it has been secretly approved by new ownership. Even then it's scary. It sucks, but agree with other posters that it seems we wait for new owners to change management before we get a new coach or shake up the roster.

Probably DeMelo for a 2nd and a B prospect

Pinto is not going anywhere. I don’t see a fit as none of your D outside of Morrissey are worth Batherson.

Do we still go after a RHD with how well JBD has been filling in? What happens when Zub comes back?

Do we move JBD to the third pair with Brannstrom? Does JBD play with Sanderson? Or do we move Zub to Sanderson's pair?

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-JBD
Brannstrom Hamonic

Sanderson has proven himself at this point, Hamonic is Ok as his partner, but if JBD is playing well with Chabot, I think we can upgrade Sanderson's partner, and Brannstrom's. giving us 3 pairs we can roll out.

I don't see much reason to bring in someone on D right now unless it's a long term upgrade, so replacing Hamonic.

I had a similar thought as well about realigning the pairings. It would interesting to give that a try.

I mean if we hadn’t already kicked tires on Murphy over the summer that would be shocking, particularly since PD was obviously in touch with Chicago.

Shattenkirk is a bit meh from me, definitely an improvement but I wouldn’t pay much.

If DJ remains as coach you have to upgrade Brannstrom. You can't have a top 4 with two rookies + a struggling Chabot and then have a 3rd pairing that plays less than 12 minutes on some nights because the coach doesn't want to put them out there.

If you bring in a new coach, maybe they'll trust and develop Brannstrom.

Brannstrom played 8:56 (under 7 at ES) yesterday and got 3 shifts in the 3rd period.

Brannstrom is not it.

Needs to be replaced.

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-JBD/Thomson
Holden-Hamonic

That should be our D.

So you say Morrissey is not available, but request our top line RW who is on team friendly deal, or our leading goal scorer/potential future number 1 C for the rest who are simply a number 3 at best?

JBD has been solid playing with Chabot & when Zub returns one of them will likely play on the 3rd pairing with Holden. My guess would be to play Zub with Holden, given DJ has been trying to find a shutdown tandem all yr & has yet to find one. He plays Holden & Hamonic together on the PK a lot, but 5 on 5 doesn't have a shutdown tandem. IMO Brannstrom is the next one who should be sat out & eventually moved out, both Zaitsev & Brannstrom on the backend are a liability. Next yr or sooner I would have Thomson replacing Brannstrom on this roster, of course, I have been wanting them to replace Brannstrom for quite some time.

Chabot - JBD
Sanderson - Hamonic
Holden - Zub/Brannstrom

Only DeMelo tbh. What would be fair value?
