Makes sense why the Sens were engaging with DeBrincat apparently a few weeks back on a contract extension. They wanted to know the ballpark of the dollar figure DeBrincat wanted. If its too high, it might be best just to move him at the end of the year as an RFA and move on to sign Zub, Pinto, etc..

IMO & I said it before that the Sens should not re-sign DeBrincat if it means not being able to sign some other key players like Zub or Pinto. I'm with SOA, they should re-sign Zub & Formenton before trying to re-sign DeBrincat, the Cat might be a luxury they can't afford.

There are also a few things that could change for next season, I could see all of Holden, Hamonic, Zaitsev, Brassard, Watson & Talbot gone & replaced mostly internally. That's about $10 mil give or take that could be replaced with cheaper players. I could also see them re-signing Motte for 3 yrs if the situation with Formenton has a negative affect on the team & they decide to move on.

Dorion would not be doing his job if he didn’t get a feel for what Vancouver is thinking re: Horvat.

I wonder what a deal would like for Horvat and Myers and put Zaitzev on the deal

I’m not sure that we will be signing Formenton. I’d like him on the roster but I’ll speculate he might be a No Fly Zone on direction from ownership until the investigation is concluded by the league.

I’m not really seeing a fit for Motte after this year. Kelly is a cheaper 4th line option that the org loves and Greig will need a spot next year.

Not enough size on a Motte - Kastelic - Kelly 4th line. Look for Reinhardt at 813K to plug in if we can’t find a big body somewhere.

There should be room for Debrincat, Zub and Pinto.

I highly doubt that. We don’t have the pieces. Also how many centers can we possibly have

You can insert any name there. The asking price will be huge. It’s a pipe dream

I could see Horvat as a pure rental. He’s UFA after this season. How much pressure is there on Dorion to make the playoffs ?

I’m down for a pure rental. But at the expense of what? I would think canucks ask for horvat is on par to Arizona’s for chychrun. AND there will be teams that will pay it and resign horvat. I don’t want to pay it and then just let him leave

Prefer Motte to Kelly for the extra 600K but I agree PD can probably find a way to sign ADBC, Zub and Pinto

I don't want to pay Vancouver what they would want either. If Brassard falters and the team starts sliding we may need to address the 2/3LC position but Horvat's cost would be uncomfortable. 1st + Lassi likely.

stop your hate

I love Norris. It's a business decision. Not personal. No hate here.

Proposing this as a move to rebalance the lineup to address our relatively weak defence and add a bit of cap space to get some important signings done. Right now our forward "core" consists of seven STAR players with two more potential expensive players coming in with Greig and Formenton. It's too much $alary up front and will implode on us pretty quickly.

Coyotes tank this year for bedard and save cash with Norris on LTIR. We get Chychryn and go deep this year and next (or longer).

I get that this is an online forum, but sometimes we should probably acknowledge that there are tough decisions to make under a cap system. Our discourse on strategy needs to be a bit more nuanced than "you can't trade him -- he's good!"

Is Zaitsev worth buying out ? If u do it this summer his cap hit next year will be 2.75 and then 0.75 the year after which gives us 1.5 in additional room for next year
