Yes, I've always been perplexed about how some talk about playing in U.S. cities in glowing terms like its nirvana while dumping on Ottawa. I have lived for many years in many U.S. cities and can tell you from 1st hand experience that its not all that its stacked up to be, and that Ottawa is definitely an attractive place to live relative to most of those U.S. cities. The disadvantage is really taxes for a young adult that wants to maximize earning power, but that's really pretty much the main, large drawback.
But, but all 26 year old multi millionaires want to go to the hottest clubs and best restaurants, especially considering how many free nights they have.

I truly think a huge part of the perception of Ottawa in the NHL is based on where the arena is. The trip from the airport to Brookstreet Hotel is not a great showcase of the city. F. Forsberg's perception of the city and reaction to the downtown when he finally went there (after what, 7 years in the NHL?) is pretty illustrative of that point.

No reason the arena shouldn't be PACKED!

Weegar does not want to play here

I actually sort of suspect that we got extremely close and when we talked to weegar he nixed the deal.

I know many people are trying to figure out what the Sens can add based upon the rumoured budget number (75-76M?). Remember annual budget is likely based on salary not cap hit. So when looking at re-signing Norris his contract could be lower in the early years to allow greater flexibility now to bring in immediate help.

Say he gets 7x7, his salary could be $3M in early years and above $7M in later years, giving that extra $4M now to sign Giroux and RHD.

Hoping for a Zub extension.

At this point... if you're Zub, why the hell wouldn't you.

You are guaranteed playing with Chabot or Sanderson and a forward group that is likely top 5 in the NHL next year. Wouldn't even be shocked to here a brilliant value deal as well around 4.5 mil.

But if we are really going big game hunting for a top pairing RD, then I don't see us extending Zub due to numbers game and them banking on Thomson/JBD to make it and supplant the top 3 of Chabot, Sanderson, Top pairing RD.

If we bring in someone like Petry/Marino or lesser/similar to Zub(age or ability or combo of both), then I easily see a Zub extension.
