I wonder if Dorian was willing to go with Murray and Gustavsson, but heard Giroux wanted to make sure we could be contenders during his contract. Maybe going for Talbot is trying to convince Giroux.
I think everything in the last week is to try and convince G

I wonder if we go after a RD in free agency

There isn’t a lot of money to go around so wonder if we see some fair deals and not super overpayed ones

I Have a feeling we are going to do a surprise move today aka a Talbot move, that no one saw coming/ even thought about ( another dman?)

Nic Hague? RFA in Vegas. 230lb, LD, can provide some offense, and has a bit of a nasty streak...would mean moving Branstrom (and Zaitsev) for sure and running with Holden as 7D. Would require due diligence on his current injury (LTIR due back in September). There is no room for him in Vegas without some other cap dump moves.

If we move giroux and a top 4 d in and Zaitsev and brown out we won’t be paying out that much more in salary by end of day

If all this is true about Giroux, I don't know what to be more excited about... The fact that we're getting him or that PD is no longer waiting for the official window to open up to start negotiating with players. Would be huge.

I guess Ottawa being a great place to raise kids is a net positive in this case.

Don't blame peole for not wanting to stay in US with what happens there pretty frequently...
Yes, I've always been perplexed about how some talk about playing in U.S. cities in glowing terms like its nirvana while dumping on Ottawa. I have lived for many years in many U.S. cities and can tell you from 1st hand experience that its not all that its stacked up to be, and that Ottawa is definitely an attractive place to live relative to most of those U.S. cities. The disadvantage is really taxes for a young adult that wants to maximize earning power, but that's really pretty much the main, large drawback.
