Edit: I’ve read a few times on capfriendly Necas from Carolina. I refuse to believe Carolina would trade him (plus) for DeBrincat.

I mean DeBrincat has almost as many goals as Necas does career points, and hes only 1 year older... so let's not say it's impossible.

This upcoming UFA class is weak for forwards. And that is going to raise the Cats value on the trade market.

I want a goalie and a solid depth forward coming back in a trade for Alex, personally speaking.

Necas would be nice and a good return for Debrincat as well imho, but improbable. It's noteworthy to point out that Necas hasn't played in the NHL as long as Debrincat has (reference to a direct comparison of stats).

I don't see Carolina making that trade either. It seems more like a lateral move.

Sign Bertuzzi, Wood

I have been thinking of one trade idea if Cat decides to jet. Boone Jenner and Andrew Peeke for Brinsky (and maybe Branny).

These would both be terrific.

Jenner would be a terrific pickup and just the guy you want to round out top 6. He's like a 2nd line version of Brady. Heart and soul player that guy is. Could be cheaper prize than getting Konecny(someone I'd love to get in top 6).

If there's something I learned from the playoffs, it is the importance of multifaceted players with speed and can handle the forecheck.

We need veteran presence in our bottom 6 and sandpaper/veteran presence in top 6.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Jenner/Killorn/Bertuzzi/Barbashev-Stutzle-Giroux
Formenton/Wood/Janmark/Fast-Pinto-Joseph
Grant-Kastelic-Gauthier

I also entirely agree on letting Hamonic go and bringing in Schenn. Gudas is outpricing himself now with this terrific run, ugh.

No chance the Canes trade Necas for DBC.

I think some are in for a real big disappointment when if/when he’s traded and the NHL player(s) we receive in return.
I think so too, which is why it might make more sense to just sign him here & get 60 to 70 pts out of the guy as they did this yr. Maybe he starts to bury his gazillion chances & puts up 30 to 40 goals. They should have a very good top six if he signs & it could be a problem if he does't. They also need another one or two guys stepping up next yr & producing more than was expected. But most importantly right now is to find the right goaltender.

I think people are seriously undervaluing DBC in these trade proposals.

He’s the better player in most of them, while at the same time having people claim the other team would say no chance.

I’ll take the 40 goal 24 year old who isn’t scared to go to the dirty areas, or stand up for himself, who can skate, stick handle, attack, and make plays, over the options presented in here.

I’ll agree with one thing though; if he doesn’t want to sign here, we won’t be happy with what we get back in a trade for the player he actually is.

If we get Kotkaniemi for DBC I'd be happy, no chance we get Necas or Jarvis like some have suggested imo.
I feel like Debrincat's trade value is simultaneously being overrated, while his value as a player is being underrated.

Right now his contract situation makes him very tough to move especially with uncertainty around where the cap will be set and teams having little wiggle room.

Had he shot at career average sh% and scored 40 this year, maybe people would be singing a different tune, I suspect he'll bounce back with a legit top 6 center instead of rookie Pinto.

I think very highly of DBC, I just think if he's dealt we are getting a player much closer to KK's caliber than some of the names being thrown around. And, IMO, that's not too bad.

I guess i get the impatience with the process but it all seems like a good thing to me. Multiple people are really fighting to win the bid. It is a tricky bid too because apparently they are still needing to go into negotiations with the NCC after. The outcome of that could change how much the opportunity is worth. This auction gives off vibes of Shark Tank behavior to extract the most out of your mark, er customer. But whatever, they are battling to the end. Hopefully we get the best possible ownership group out of it. Whether that happened two weeks ago or two weeks from now, hardly seems something that the manufacturers of faux outrage would get much traction with.

Just to make sure I get this straight, if we trade a young, multiple 40G+ scorer for a guy with 52 career goals, you think we'll be laughing?
Some other numbers to consider - 7yrs under 5mil vs 9m QO to FA.

We can definitely return a better player than KK, but I’d rather a young, cost-controlled piece than a better, more expensive vet with 2-3 years to FA

Huge no to someone like Kotkaniemi as the main piece in a deal for Cat to the Canes. Don't think the Canes would trade Necas in any situation though, especially with so many player needing new deals and Jarvis & Necas appearing to be their future at the front end.
