I think the potential for MDZ to flourish in AVs system is great. He has to play the left side though, kid just cannot handle going on the right. It sucks, but gotta play to his strengths.

I personally would hate for the team to trade a guy like Staal based on "not fitting into AV's system". There is a reason why most NHL teams don't play man in the defensive zone.

Agreed.

Other than McDonagh, our defensemen have underperformed offensively and defensively they have either struggled or been average. I assume they are still adapting to AV's system, because we have seen that they are capable of performing better. The Rangers have to be careful about which defensemen they decide to trade - defense has generally been a strength of this team and they need to ensure it stays that way without creating a hole in the lineup.

I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseam, but what do you guys think we could get for a Staal/Girardi/MDZ+Miller package? For as much as I like what I've seen from him, I think it's time we sell high on a relatively unproven (potential) NHL talent with decent upside. Miller probably has the highest value of any of our prospects after McIlrath.

A top line forward. Not many of those become available though, unless you consider Ales Hemsky a 1st liner.

AV got hired before Seguin got traded to Dallas, right? Hindsight is funny, we blew a golden opportunity.

I seriously doubt Boston would have traded him within the conference.

TJ BRENNAN

Kid's not doing anything but tearing it up in the AHL for the Marlies.

For some STUPID STUPID reason, Tallon let this kid go.

We should pick him up, more offensive talent than any of our D. By a significant margin at that…

Does Sather even know who I'm talking about? Doubt it. :(

If this 500 crap keeps up, just play the season out, unload dead weight at the deadline and just draft a forward if we get a good pick, screw it

I wish it was this simple. Knowing Glen he's going to keep all the dead weight and let them all walk for nothing ala Lamoriello

I wouldnt be surprised sadly :shakehead

i just hope he does the right thing. this team isnt good enough

Glen won't sell playing in this awful division, a two seed and home ice in the first round is well within range. Will be funny if the Pens play a wild card team with more points than the 2nd or 3rd team in the metro.

I think this team needs a David Clarkson. Great possession player who gets into dirty areas and gets things done.

Staal+Hagelin for Skinner+

no... pass from Rangers..Hagelin is too important to the Rangers.. Skinner also has past concussion issues. Rangers already have just dealt with the issues with Nash.. not a fan of Skinner and his diving antics. i wouldnt mind Lindholm, McGinn, Murphy in a deal for Staal and Boyle if another roster player with value must be included..

Skinner is far from soft. He's a very chippy player that rides the line between aggressive and dirty at times.

My trade isnt serious, i dont even want Skinner. Youre obsessed with big forwards though, that much is clear

yet i cant stand Boyle, Pyatt and Pouliot.. i hate big players that dont use their size to their advantage... id take a player like Clifford and McLeod over Pyatt and Pouliot. at least they are more useful. i still dont see a purpose in Pouliot and Pyatt. i dont see why any one of Miller, Fast, Lindberg, Kristo, Yogan, Kantor etc cant do what they do while giving them the proper ice time to succeed.. its not like Miller will be ruined because of 3rd line ice time. guess who started on the 3rd line, Ryan Kesler.. Mike Richards also started on the 3rd line

Skinner is too injury prone imo, but I'd love to get murphy. Not enough in terms of center depth in carolina though to make a Staal + Hagelin trade worth it.

You're right. It gets him in a lot of trouble with opposing teams too.

I'd actually like Skinner but I'm not sold on investing in a kid who's two headshots away from his career going bye bye.

This team desperately needs a trade. There's just not enough speed or size throughout the lineup. We have to have the slowest group of centers in the league. Stepan, Richards, Brassard and Boyle all look like they're skating in quicksand. D Moore has been a pleasant surprise and is the perfect 4th line center, I hope we resign him

What this team really needs though is a pure finisher on the wing and a mean RHD with a big shot from the point. Byfuglien was the best player on the ice tonight; don't know who's available but we need to move MDZ to fill either of these needs. Don't know what you're waiting for Slats, you're not gonna fleece EVERYONE you trade with

not much in the way of really appealing assets to grab.

Id love to grab the rights to Burmistrov from the Jets, buy low on Kassian and Connoly, but, thats about it...most trades seem just implausible from one standpoint or the other.
