Just pure speculation on my part but I would love to acquire Zack Kassian who is being under utilized in Vancouver right now. Big body, tough as nails, RWer. Give him 3rd line minutes with a player like Brassard.

He would fix a couple of problems and be able to grow with the team.

In on that. I wanted to draft him big time that Year.

Did Torts like any of our guys more than AV does?

Boyle? :naughty:

I like Kassian's skillset, but he's currently a very ****** player. And I doubt Gillis would take fair value for him, because he traded Cody Hodgson for him, and sunk cost and all.

Anaheim traded their 2009 #1 Peter Holland to the Leafs for a conditional third which can become a 2nd if Holland plays 25 games for the Leafs this season. There were other pieces involved but those small pieces. The pick and Holland are the main parts of the deal.

The Rangers traded Sanguinetti for a 2nd and 6th four years after they selected him. They got very good value for him. He was one year from being waiver eligible.

perfect. he would fit right in. :shakehead and he would fix exactly zero problems. didnt like him in his draft year. still dont like his development.

3rd liner type. check

marginally talented offensively leaning more towards not all that talented. check.

big plodding tough guy player who will make us bigger and tougher and um... more ploddinger.... check.

he will not address our lack of finish.

pass. bigtime.

He would be an upgrade in an area the Rangers need an upgrade. I didn't say they should trade McDonagh for him...

Any chance we see John Moore dealt instead of Del zotto? Sort of like Vancouver dealing Schneider instead of Luongo.

Start trading guys, this team is terrible in one goal/tie games in third periods. It's going to catch up to them not getting loser points. Enough of wallowing in mediocrity, this teams just decent enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to bottom out to get a good pick

No resilience. 2 years ago we find a way to win this game. This year we find a way to lose it.

Like I said, need another scorer and center...Brassard is too inconsistent.

I would trade Staal. He does not look like the same player pre-eye injury. And his name can get you back a lot. Take advantage.

Get a d-man & scorer for him.

id trade Staal, you can get a lot from a team willing to pay... id move him to Canes since he might sign their anyways. wouldnt mind Murphy, Lindholm, McGinn as part of the package

Maybe it ends up being Marc Staal. Who knows at this point, one thing is for sure, tech needs reliable production up and down the lineup. I don't think that's taking place by having guys like Brassard and Pouliot Manning 2nd line minutes.

Is Anton Stralman a high impact defenseman worth top 4 ufa money?

This team as is isn't a winning product

I agree here. Kassian ****ing sucks at hockey.

I'm okay with Staal being traded, and keeping DZ. He can't play in AV's system. Looks awful game in game out.

too much mediocrity on this team, they need to make a move. maybe something as simple as trading one of Pouliot/Pyatt/Moore for a draft pick, and calling up Miller to center the 3rd line.

Too much accepted mediocrity on this team right now. Kids tend to work a lot harder than vets.

Lumping Moore in with Pouliot and Pyatt is an insult to him.

The Rangers need more move than just Del Zotto. Also Callahan has more value in a trade than to this team. I'd love to move him. Unfortunately as I've said before too many casual fans that have been fed propaganda about guys like Callahan and Girardi, both good players at their best, but they've been really overrated and now they're not what they were, mostly Callahan. Just threw in Girardi because he's the same type of player.

I personally would hate for the team to trade a guy like Staal based on "not fitting into AV's system". There is a reason why most NHL teams don't play man in the defensive zone.

In terms of complaceny, I think something more drastic would need to happen.

I want Sather to look into dealing Staal, see what his value is around the league. See what Staal+ can get you. Hell, see if Staal+Hagelin can get you a young 1st line center.

Our D afterwards:

McD-Girardi
MDZ-Stralman
John Moore-Falk/McI

It's a good group.

Edit: Possible center I'd personally would look at that I think are realistic targets:

Galchenyuk
B. Schenn

Less likely but would love to have:

N. Backstrom (pipedream)
RNH
Matt Duchene (pipedream)
Ryan Johansen

This was always going to be a transition year. The trade deadline, and this offseason are going to be very telling with what direction this team is going to go in for the next few years. This team's inconsistency has a lot to do with AV not having the horses to play the system he wants to play effectively. Slow skaters with poor lateral movement and no puck moving ability do not fit.

Girardi needs to go. Trade him for something at the deadline rather than lose him for nothing this summer. Staal has earned the benefit of the doubt, but if his play doesn't pick up by the Olympic break, I'd listen to offers for him. DZ I'm kind of split on. I think he can thrive if he plays the left side, and we'd need him if Staal gets traded. Between trading two of these three, the Rangers should be able to get another minute eating defenseman back and a top 6 forward, and then some.

What kind of center would Staal bring back? A Bryan Little/Ryan Kesler type?

Winger wise maybe someone like Hudler but I really want to bring a center so we can keep Richards at wing permanently.
