Did you see Vancouver-Carolina too? I saw all of them. Three lousy games.

The Stars have been at the Garden many times scouting the Rangers. The Stars AGM Les Jackson was at the Vancouver game. DZ would be a fit on the Stars.

Sather should ask for Mika Zbad and the Sens 2015 1st when Murray calls him again about Del Zotto. Their 2014 #1 belongs to Anaheim. Bobby Ryan trade. That team isn't making the playoffs. Ryan will be a Flyer in 2015.

Missed that one, but the other two were brutal. Ottawa is a disaster.

Just can't see a team paying an appropriate price for Del Zotto. Rangers might as well keep him and ice him as the #3LD and move Moore to the right side.

DZ is staying for the foreseeable future. The deadline is March 5. There is an NHL roster freeze later this month. The Olympic break is in early February.

This screams media leak. Rangers were likely getting garbage offers and this crept out to get people to realize we're not desperate to trade him.

Lavoie was the first to bring up the possibility of Del Zotto getting traded when he was scratched for the 2nd time a few weeks ago.

I tend to agree. John Moore's game is slipping. Falk isn't the answer. If the Rangers' D was in better shape, I could see a trade happening even quicker.

Staal hasnt been an all star defenseman but he hasnt been awful as some here seem to suggest. Like I stated earlier, he has not played well of late with his blunder in boston being his worst of the season. But in the beginning of the season he was playing well. He is a 6'4" stay at home defenseman with great smarts and a long reach. He has lined up and stopped some of the best in the game. Yeah I'd rather stick to my guns and keep him.

Pieces equal to his value, obviously. Just because the roster has several holes, it doesn't mean the team should short sell their most valuable trade asset.

Obviously. But when trading an asset, you would think most team's would target a specific need. A top 6 LW, a gritty bottom 6 forward, a playmaking defensemen, a gritty defenseman...this team could use just about everything.

Not too long ago, I was convinced we'd trade MDZ for a forward -- with the state of the D/3rd pair, Im not so sure now.

If it's Dallas, guys worth trading for are Chaisson and Ritchie up front, Brendon Dillon on the backend. Robidas being injured takes him out as a target.

Looking at LD, Marc Staal hasn't been Marc Staal, and if it's a matter of DZ vs Moore on the left. DZ is a better, more proven player.

Next week the NHL BOG will be meeting. They need to vote on the TV deal. The NHL will give the teams some idea where the cap will be going. Sather was complaining about not knowing where the cap is headed when he spoke to the Edmonton radio station in August. Sather will get the clarity he wanted next week. December 9-10.

Would rick dipietro fill a need for better Hartford goalkeeping?

No. He was pretty bad in his short time in charlotte. 5.18 gaa and .846 save % in 5 games. He requested to have his contract terminated, so I doubt he's looking for another AHL job right now.

Gotcha. Hadn't had my coffee yet and I think I misread what you were getting at.

Frankly, I think this team could use a top-six center in addition to what you listed. Move Richards to wing and deal Brassard if necessary.

True, add that to the list as well. Stepan is very good and can be slotted on the 1st or 2nd line. Richards has been a ghost since the hot start, and Brassard is the inconsistent player hes always been. The only place this team doesn't have severe depth issue is at RW and LD.

Gordie Clark said the Rangers are going to revaluate McIlrath after Christmas. He made those comments to Jim Cerny in June. He was talking about a possible call up. Clark wanted McIlrath to play major minutes in the AHL for the first half of the season and then go from there. Last Tuesday,Dreger tweeted the possibility of the Rangers not making a trade/trade not being necessary and bringing up McIlrath. The Rangers management are a very quiet group. All of the tweets from Bob Crawford about McIlrath have been positive. Buekeboom said a few weeks ago McIlrath was ahead of where they thought he would be.

Kreider has 6 goals and 16 points in 20 games. He didn't play in the first 7 games. 75 games. 23 goals. 38 assists. 61 point pace. He will be arbitration eligible. If he has those point totals,he will get a very nice 2nd contract. Playing on a line with Stepan and Nash.

A couple weeks ago people wanted DZ gone because Moore was gonna take his place, now DZ is playing better and now Moore isnt good enough to replace him? Lol

Trade Girardi instead for a top 6 center or winger, bring up Mcilrath

id rather trade Girardi for a solid close to ready NHL forward and 1st round pick with the chance of drafting their own offensive forward instead of trading for someone that is older and will break down quicker....

look at all of the youth throughout the league that teams draft themselves.. Rangers should be able to draft their own sniper..

Falk as a 6 is fine. He doesn't look out of place any longer. Clearly he worked on his game while being a scratch these last few months.

DZ looked fine with him on Saturday. He can be kept, conceivably, but as you say we have holes to fill.

If we're looking to fill every hole we have at this moment, then trades of DZ, Girardi, and prospects/picks should all have to happen.

We need a 2c, considering Richards will be bought out, Brassard is too inconsistent to play that role, and Lindberg may or may not fill that role (I think he can but who knows). Miller is being groomed on the wing.

Winger isn't a glaring need, although someone who is a pure sniper could be used.

We need a 3rd line energy bruiser who is good for 20 goals. Someone who will park in front of the net and bury the dirty goals.

We need a top pairing defenseman and a bottom pairing defenseman as well.

Girardi is gone (need for top pairing defenseman), MDZ is gone (need for a bottom pairing defenseman), no 3rd line bruiser on the team yet, Richards is gone (need for 2c). Kristo should help us with our need for a pure goal scorer next season. He's having a nice season down in the AHL.

Do you groom Miller as a C the rest of the season in the AHL to try and fill that need too? The team has enough wingers. C is a need. Maybe they shift Miller back to C to develop as that for next year where there are clearly open positions.

McIlrath is going to be called up this year. Could see a call up after the Olympics for him. He'll likely play with Moore and Falk, as both will likely rotate at 6th D for the rest of the season depending on the size/grittiness of our opponent.

Leaving 1 hole for the Rangers to look to trade Del Zotto for. A 3rd line energy bruiser. I mean, at least logically.

Rangers could be uncomfortable with Miller at C and be looking to get a 2c, which would make DZ for that 2c hard to negotiate. DZ, right now, is the 6th defender. Teams don't generally trade a 2c for one of those.
